Does everyone know what colostrum is?
Getting out my whiteboard. Don’t leave gum under the desks.

Colostrum is the first thing that cows and humans produce before they produce breast milk for humans or calves. It is meant to be the first food of infants and calves snd super rich in every vitamin and enzymes and the perfect food to give the infant the best chance of survival. So colostrum revives baby calves etc on the farm.

In humans it is thicker than breast milk. If a woman pumps milk and places it in a bottle and refrigerated it the colostrum will rise to the top. Kind of like butter on the top and a thin whitish blue liquid on the bottom.

What is hilarious to me is that I’m pretty sure most people have no clue when they are ordering colostrum what they are asking for.

And I wonder if all the lactating mothers out there know what a killing they could be making off pumping a few extra bottles.

You could always freeze dry it as human colostrum and sell it on ebay.

Just. So. You. Know.

Y’all are welcome.

P s. I have saved many ailing calves with powdered colostrum when mom rejected or was not nursing effectively.

uuhh yeah. I think we're all adults here.

When I lived in Ozark AR, I would buy goat's milk and colostrum from a lady with a small herd. At the time I had a few pygmy goats. She would freeze the colostrum and that would be my number one choice. But, it's about 100 miles away.
Question: Is the amount of colostrum a woman makes determined by the time, or amount of colostrum made before it turns to mature milk? If she pumped some extra for the freezer, would she still make enough for her baby?
I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you.

We added kefir to our arsenal of preventatives many months ago and now stocked up on benedryl too.

Kefir is 99% lactose free for those who cannot tolerate milk.

We're going to start making our own kefir and try making the cheese too.

Bovine Colostrum. It's available in powder, gel cap, or chewable forms. Contains lactofeerin and also boosts immune function.

Should be up on the shelf at Tractor Supply --> Bovine Colostrum (12 oz bag of powder circa $15.00).

It's got to be the BOVINE supplement.....not the multi species type......that's the lactoferrin you're looking for

Mix up a 3/4 - 1 cup of powder in warm water, stir well until dissolved....add ice to cool off, or put up in the fridge for later....or drink it warm

I use it when I wean a litter of pups off their mom. Slightly sweet taste.

Crude protein 55%
Crude fat 15%

Did I say BOVINE ?? ---> BOVINE <---

It would also be nice to have some kind of guide as to how much Benadryl and lactoferrin to take, and how often.
 Quoting: Pilgrim001

Here's the research performed by UF Health --> [link to www.mdpi.com (secure)]

Apparently the benadryl or the colostrum by itself is about 35% effective in treating COVID.....when used together, is apparently 99% effective.

I remember reading the specifics of this research performed by the Univ of Florida over the last 6 months......and the research was performed on a CELLULAR LEVEL in their quest to find OTC products to kill COVID......off the top of my head I recall 4 micrograms per milliliter
.

So the study doesn't specify a human dosage. Here's where a "lick o' sense" comes in handy.....we're talking over the counter stuff here, so the stuff ain't gonna kill you. Mix ya up a quart of the colostrum and you'll get 3-4 glasses of liquid from that. I'd take 1 Benadryl w/ a glass of colostrum....twice a day.....for a few days. When ya start feeling better, then ya quit.

If it works as intended....contact the researchers and let 'em know ya guinea-pigged yourself and it worked !!

just out of curiosity I wondered if it was in greek yogurt.. seems like I heard that someplace in the past.

1. Greek yogurt aides in bone health!

Unlike milk, yogurt has been through a fermentation process that includes an iron-binding protein called lactoferrin which helps to build strong bones. Lactoferrin increases the absorption of iron, which along with calcium, increases bone density.

[link to food4healthybones.com (secure)]

So it’s OK to eat yogurt. In fact, it’s a pretty good idea to eat yogurt for your bones. Why? Alright, the calcium, yes, but there’s more to it than calcium.

The real reason is lactoferrin. Raw cow’s milk and fermented milk products such as yogurt and kefir contain lactoferrin, an iron-binding protein that has several roles when it comes to building strong bones. (KD more detail at linky.. and hey I grow my own kefir too..)

KD.This seems important to me for the healthy bones benefit described as I am post menopausal (early post menopausal from having ovaries surgically removed for good reasons...) and take Estrace....i have totally healthy done density of women age 21... I assume my yogurt.. high quality dense greek yogurt with NO SUGAR in it.. and my Kefir are actual real benefits to me for the lactoferrin.... complete normal bone density of young woman besides the fact I am 74 with early surgical menopause...

and high quality greek yogurt and kefir will remain in my diet.

When my kid was sick I gave them benedryl and probiotic yogurt drink. I started the night of day 2 of symptoms, he was symptom free under a week.

I'm not really looking for myself, as stated, I have NOW brand colostrum capsules. In fact, I've got a 5 year supply of benedryl and everything from the SA root to make quinine to Andrographis to baking soda, to ivermectin out the ass(both pills and paste) , etc. I want to know what to advise someone that after 2 years of covid says they have covid or their mama has covid and what should they do. If it comes down to Go to walmart and buy some benedryl and some baby formula, then that's what it is.

Enfamil Enspire
That’s the formula that has more lactoferrin in it.
You can buy it at Walmart and probably a few other stores or online.

 Quoting: Pilgrim001

The first 2 to 3 days all mammals produce colostrum, then regular milk.

Most can indeed preserve some of the colostrum, and... unfortunately, there is quite a market for that: [link to www.newsweek.com (secure)]

Anyway, bovine colostrum is fine, and quite inexpensive.
