Keep it unplugged from the internet


Only install updates via a trusted third system. Download software on a safe system, test it, verify checksums and burn it to CD to transfer it to the "unplugged Windows pc"

Keep software to a minimum

Disable all you need to disable and never attach it directly to the network


Do your "internet stuff" on a secondary pc

Maintain the airbridge


I failed at this so here is info for you


You don't even need updates if you never plug it in


They can load malware to your system via a hook in the official Windows Update process
