Lose all of it, or just parts of it?

Like did it all go at once or bit-by-bit?

I went to have ketchup this morning and it tasted WRONG...like watered down, congealed blood.

Other stuff I can taste and smell.

Re: When you lost your sense of smell and taste...did you...
its been a year since we were sick..december of 2020.
taste is much better, more normal
smell is NOT BACK.
everything smells like its burned.

my fabric softner i used this morning smells burned.
the other clothes i washed without softener smell burned.
its an awful smell.

i just made chicken and pasta salad for lunch and that tasted pretty good.
i sniffed the rosemary, thyme and oregano i cut last night, the leftoevers of it still in a jar all cut up and THAT smelled burned too.

at this point i think im going to be stuck smelling this awfulness forever because my nose NOT getting better.

i never lost taste but it HAS to be affected somehow since i cant smell right..

Yikes, thanks.

So it can be a bit of a dealt hand, then.

I had covid back in Aug/Sept of last year. Most likely the Delta variant. I never lost sense of smell or taste, and I'm a smoker.

I had the OG variant I think. Feb 2020. Lost taste and smell and it was pretty instant and complete as far as I remember. 2 weeks I had most of that back to normal, but it took coffee about a year to taste normal/right again. Thankfully no horrific smells or tastes.

Re: When you lost your sense of smell and taste...did you...
I gradually lost it about a week after I 1st had that original fever (for me it was 99.3...very mild). I honestly thought it was just an extremely mild cold. I only got myself tested after a friend I had seen a week prior (days before the fever) told me HE tested positive and sure enough, I then tested positive...we both got it from the same place.

My smell gradually came back after about 2 weeks or maybe 10 days or so.

I lost 100% sense of smell. I realized this when I feeling sick and was at the gas pump pumping gas. I couldn't smell gasoline. The I tried smelling hand sanitizer - Nada. Taste was completely gone too although u didn't realize it untill I realized I couldn't smell. Last about 2-3 months. It's since returned. I was also sick for about a month with Covid.

Re: When you lost your sense of smell and taste...did you...
I remember when I couldn't taste sweet. Lots of foods are really good as long as you can take sweet and tart. Without sweet it's like sucking on a lemon.

For some reason I had hyper bitter for a while. Anything with the tiniest amount of bitter taste was nothing but horribly bitter.

Then I went down to nothing but the slightest bit of sour and salt. So I could taste the aftertaste of sourdough bread and salt.
I never lost salt.

I really feel sorry for people who report at a year later everything tastes rotten better or chemically.

Then 6 months later, weird ass awful phantom smells started. And protein rich foods took on a new terrible taste and odor of something I can’t even identify. Now, a year later, still the same

If you are having smell or taste issues with covid increase your zinc intake and maybe add quercetin. Saw some doctors recommend that.

When I had covid loss of taste and smell happened overnight while I slept. Things did not smell funny.... things did not smell period. It wasn't dull or muted like with a cold. It was completely nonexistent. Same with taste. Lasted 2-3 days came back over 3-4 days. That was me with OG covid fall 2019.

I couldn't smell my babies diaper full of shit was one benefit...but this is one of the oddest symptom couldn't taste sweet, spice, herbs nothing everything tasted like nothing, smell was completely gone also.. I couldn't eat for 4-5 days when I had it. It's been over 2 weeks since I had Covid and they are slowly coming back..
