U.S. troops will get a pay CUT when factoring in inflation and the poorest could be forced to turn to food banks after Biden signed the National
Service members will be in a worse financial situation despite a 2.7% pay raise
Former Major General John Ferrari says it won't keep pace with soaring inflation
The prices of consumer goods rose an average 6.8% year-over in November
Military wages are generally set based off the last year's Employment Cost Index

American service members will likely be in a worse financial situation next year because of soaring inflation, despite President Joe Biden authorizing a Pentagon-wide press increase earlier this week, a former Army Major General said on Wednesday.

John G. Ferrari, now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, told Fox that 'for Troops at the lowest part of the pay scale, the cost of gas and food may drive some deeper into debt, or they may rely more on food banks.'

On Monday Biden signed the National Defense Authorization Act, an annual must-pass piece of legislation that sets the next year's Pentagon budget.

This year's spending bill included a 2.7 percent pay increase across both military and civilian Defense Department employees.

But Ferrari feared it may not negate the rising prices at the pump and the grocery store.

'The situation is serious now because we have not seen this level of inflation in decades,' he said.

Earlier this month the Labor Department released data that inflation had risen 6.8 percent in November from the year prior, a 40-year record high.

Soaring prices are hitting Americans hard in essential categories, with groceries overall up 6.2 percent in the 12-month window ending in November. Steak jumped 25.6 percent, bread rose 4 percent and fresh fruit prices were up 5.8 percent.

A friend is a marine stationed in Haiti guarding the embassy, they make him sleep in a fucking closet on a mat. He went to buy a jug of detergent from the PX and it cost him $58. About 10 times what we pay.

The Pedo Joe administration is taking everything they can away from our soldiers

6.8% inflation? It's actually 15% year over year inflation.

Your grocery bill is at least 30% more since the beginning of 2020. That's 15% per year inflation. And don't even start with gasoline or other needed items.

Grow up. He's a fucking soldier! Not a fucking security guard!

If he doesn't like what he does, he can leave!

There's 100s of thousands of servicemembers who had it ALOT worse than that, and then died on top of that.

Yes, if you're a married E1 - E4 you're going to have financial troubles. If you're single living in the barracks and eating at the chow hall, it will not be an issue. But even then there are single guys that get in over their heads by purchasing an expensive car or truck.

No shit, I've seen the increases everywhere and I keep seeing the news media downplaying it. It's a lot worse than what's being admitted to and it's going to hit a lot harder for anyone taking pay cuts. I can't even imagine how bad the inflation will be over the next few years but I'm sure it will get a lot worse and western governments will do nothing to stop it. they never do.

Yep. This is nuts what we have become. The bastion of freedom is now the most hated country on earth, we need to end the Fed and make states strong again. Bring our troops home and guard the fucking border.

Another reason to not take the vax. An easy way out.

They need to stop complaining. They are paid justly. We have ZERO wars going.

Well, but the US presents itself as this great thing that doesn't have to draft people into the military, which means that it has the responsibility to be attractive for people to want to go serve in the military. People serve mostly for financial gain and if that will be gone, then there will naturally be displeasure with service. They aren't in it to die for anyone. They are betting that while they go into the military and use all of its benefits, there won't be a conflict. They are seeing it as a job, a means to live because they can't make money any other way. Some do indeed join for bigger reasons than that. This is true. However, many of those are also disappointed because they are realizing that they are defending interests of some very nasty people.
