This. Hyundai are trash cars. They're imitation Subarus without the All Wheel Drive. They might last longer than your average American car, but they'll never be as good as Toyota, Honda, or Subaru.

In the next decade or so, most people won't own a car. EV or otherwise. I estimate about 10% of the people who identify as "drivers" will continue to do so long term. The "go green" idea will fail, and that's the whole idea. Whoops! Didn't invest in exploration and production of conventional energy, and invested a butt-ton of money in projects that are unreliable and net energy losers. Guess you can't afford gas huh? Food delivered using diesel either? Electricity is generated using coal, and that costs a lot now too....etc.

That's especially concerning when you're in an EV. (bad quality) At least in an ICE car if it has a problem you won't get burned to death before you can get your seat belt off. I think support for an immediate transition to EVs would drop a LOT if the average person understood thermal runaway, and what's involved.

They won't. The idea is that people who live in places like apartments and condos won't own a car. EV or otherwise. The same will apply to anyone under a particular income level yet to be determined. I would estimate a couple million. If someone can't afford to buy and set up an EV with a solar/wind/hydro power source at their house now, they never will. Once inflation starts to really bite, and the reality of the consequences of a lack of investment in conventional forms of energy start to become apparent to the average "go green"er, it will be far too late. And that is precisely the outcome being worked toward. Technology is not energy. Technology REQUIRES energy. Along with everything else that allows a first world standard of living, and our current lifespan. Yearly investment in exploration and production of conventional forms of energy is off by $500billion. Most people have no idea what's coming.

Eh...ICE been around for over 100 years. It’ll take them a few more decades to phase them totally out for EV as transitional power sources are still In The infancy stages.

At the rate it’s going, I figure it won’t be before 2050 or so before there are more EV’s than gas powered. I’ll be dead by then, so I’m not worrying about that.
