If you don't eat meat why make something that resembles it and even name it?

I don't eat pork so this would be eww to me.

actually banana peels have a goodly amount of nutrition in them but I have not tried any banana peel recipies.

squirrels really love dried up black banana peels though... so I put them out for them. Raccoons might like them too... but I haven't observed one personally eating them.. but they get eaten so fast that I suspect raccoons like them too.

Wow, I think it is kind of neat that they took a waste product and found a use for it. I would give it a shot. The way the whole "pig" thing is playing out in California, this might be what they eat for pulled pork sandwiches in the future. LOL!

True! And unless they are not available, why bother. Cause if I can get pulled pork, that is what I will go have. A substitute would be good stuck on an island with no pork products.

so it works right in favorite recipes... like pulled pork sandwiches I assume.. as to the banana peels. we are conditioned on soul food we grew up on.

the hardest thing I gave up when I stopped eating meat was hamburgers...so I do like very much the new Beyond Meat 1/4 burgers... they are truly excellent... for those that were hooked on 1/4 pound burgers..

And large rats and field mice too. Enjoy those!

In some parts of the world banana is fed to cattle in feedlots .

As to my fairly newly discovered Beyond Meat 1/4 pound burgers... I am going to start making my former "hamburger" swiss steak again... which I always served over mashed potatoes.. these will work will... bean veggie patties just don't and I have made a lot of veggie patties .. I have a cook book for them even.. but none of them work as hamburger swiss steak. Beyond Meat WILL... and I like various bean loafs and such.. always did before I gave up meat...but using their product I can make a decent "meat loaf" Impossible fake meat will work too...and both will make decent spaghetti and meatballs.

Take notice that NOBODY tries to make meat taste like a vegetable.

I've seen this guy's videos before to get some good recipe ideas.
He seems pretty genuine, and for someone who has 600K subscribers, it takes more IQ to create that type of online business. Also, if you see his workout vids, the dude is stacked.

The problem with that is that jackfruit isn't easily obtained in much of the country, unlike bananas.

My supermarket carries canned jackfruit in the ethnic aisle.

Most don't if they don't like meat. That's why fake meat will never take off IMO.

The fake meat that looks like meat grosses me out just as much as meat.

This is for people who like meat, but don't some aspect of the industry or avoid meat for health reasons.

Barbecued jackfruit sandwiches are great ... it looks like pulled pork and tastes like barbecue, but I don't associate it with being meat. It's just yummy jackfruit and barbecue sauce.
