45 years ago in the UK, my 14 year old sister and her best friend rode a very grand old tandem over a mile, to school every day. They became well known in the town.

Riding them does take a bit of getting used to and there needs to be trust and a good understanding between front and back. They are also a little dangerous for that very reason and also somewhat heavy. They are quite an oddity so not surprised people find it funny - very ghey.

Gay by American standards, but not for Brits/Europeans
