High speed pursuit ends with crash, juvenile suspect shot in the leg

Juvenile records, obtained through a public records request, showed McHugh had tried to stop Joker on Interstate 15.



A pursuit ensued with Joker reaching speeds up to 100 mph and ultimately crashing his vehicle on an off-ramp.

Sgt. McHugh's body-worn camera recorded video of the incident.

"Drop the gun! Drop the Gun!" Sgt. McHugh could be heard yelling at Joker. "Get on the ground or I'll shoot you!"

Joker was running underneath the overpass. Despite McHugh's commands, Joker moved his hands toward the waistband on his pants.

A revolver was found in the bottom of Joker's pants at the hospital.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office determined the shooting of Joker was justified.
