It's a fact. Let it Be cost a stunning $35 when released with its glossy color book and the box. Not to mention the deliberate collections item run of the same material packaged as Get Back with a couple of old time rock cover songs included. John Lennon knew how to make money. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 81234400 United States 11/25/2021 09:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, what an insight into the band! Quoting: The_Meridian Turns out Paul wasn't a tyrant, or bossy, just thrust into power by everyone else's attrition. It's a shame that a few times he gently suggested George's guitar skills were not up to snuff and he should back off, but in a way George kind of sat there and begged for it. It is clear from the Doc that George had deeper things on his mind than the silly kind of pap that Paul was cranking out. John might've been on Heroin at this time, the doc doesn't make it clear, but he was certainly functional yet very, very passive. He seems as if he felt dwarfed by Paul's musical genius and was happy riding side-car and taking 1/2 credit. Not in a greedy way, just an empty tank who happened to have a pretty sweet deal. Ringo...who did you murder??? Why is Ringo so fucking sad? His wife too, she comes in and is a Depressive princess. Ringo is all about his upcoming movie roll and he can always crank out a working beat on command, no worries, except whomever he murdered haunting him. Yoko: she doesn't seem to have bothered anyone and was respectful and probably kept John intact. I can see how she was kind of cute and they seemed like real love between them. Linda: A Nikon shooter, so thumbs up from me. Clearly Paul was the Beatles at this time, and his only fault was being super creative and versatile...filled with rich musical ideas that were overwheming to John and not interesting to George. Can't wait to see how it all comes together. Thanks for the thread and the review. |

Look at the early footage of Paul, then there's a little break where they announced the Beatles wouldn't play out anymore, then the bearded, 3" taller, 20 pound heavier, old lady faced Faul is the rest of the show. User ID: 63255089 United Kingdom 11/26/2021 04:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Paul was driven. He wanted to be everywhere. Do everything. Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon. Paul was at the recording sessions. He marries into money with a sensible woman who markets vegetarian food. Paul is the consummate professional. But this is rock n roll. George hooks up with a gorgeous model, Eric Clapton steals her away, they remain friends, and George gets into ISKCON. Post breakup the first successful act is Ringo, with the others pitching in to help make the album. John steps back from the lifestyle to raise his son. Meanwhile Paul sticks to the mainstream. James Bond theme. Pop albums every year. Tours. Acting. Latching onto big acts (Stevie Wonder & Michael Jackson duets) He's the man of the people. My brother met him in the early 80s when he was interviewed for the job as a chef. A colleague said he knew an old woman who kept saying she was a cleaner at his estate. He thought she was bullshitting until Paul showed up to her funeral. He's probably the hardest working man in music, with constant tours and songwriting. But people remember John getting shot. Morrison in the bathtub. Kurt blowing his head off. Richards off his head. Crazy Keith Moon. People will always remember the Beatles as a band, greater than their individual parts. They influenced music in the 60s like no other. "Don't hate the black, don't hate the white, if you get bitten, just hate the bite" Sly Stone 'We’re the middle children of history. BEhind John Lennon you will notice one of the Hare Krishnas sitting in a lotus, reciting his mantras on his beads. John Lonnon and George Harrison financed the Hare Krishnas at the time. George gave them a mansion near Watford, Herts. now called Bhaktivedanta Manor [link to www.bhaktivedantamanor.co.uk (secure)] while John Lennon had organized the first Hare Krishna 33RPM recordings - that was before the "Manor" came up. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] I remember when they cut the record in 1971. I used to go eat at their Temple at 7 Bury Place near the British Museum. The food was really good and filling and free. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Yoko Ono hated the Hare Krishnas. John had to separate from the group, while George Harrison stayed friendly and in excellent terms with them until he died. Richard Branson had an upstairs twin room shop where he sold his bootleg vinyl recordings. His mother would stay in the shop while he went out for the concerts and recordings. He promoted the Hare Krishna record and sold it in his store which was nearby the Krishna's temple. Those were great years. I came. I saw. I Concorde. Most of today's music is total crap with only synth/sampling and no real instriments. I have no interest. Back on topic... Yoko was always glued to Lennon. Always sitting there, doing nothing. What kind of an inspiration she could have been? I have no idea. I am certain the BEatles disbanding was mainly because of her. She had so much power on Lennon... so much influence... It was unreal.
