Yes, cheap oil is good for any States economy. It means more people can drive their vehicles to go places and spend money. As of the 5000 Companies that went out of business, it is because of their business model could not adjust to the cheaper oil prices. It's the same thing with CoVid and the restaurant business. Those restaurants couldn't change their business model and they went out of business...

The question arises is what would be a happy medium for oil prices to partially sustain the industry and let the small companies flourish too...

Possibly $50 for a barrel of oil, but it is all supply and demand...

IMO, the Biden Administration will drop oil prices by another lock down. Remember, a dark winter as in Small Pox being the next Pandemic. This will also put the brakes on the Stock Market and Economy overheating. No Malt down until the 2022 midterm elections are over. Then they can blame the Republicans for all the problems...

Remember to add that it is only 3 Million barrels...

All the inflation static is due to the inability of the energy industry to produce product and turn a profit. Thus the lockdowns....pipe line hack....airline woes...price of wood...etc. It all has to do with the affordability of liquid hydrocarbons. I wish it didn't.

First of all, check your math... or use a fucking calculator. 50 million bpd divided by 18+ million bpd consumption = less than 3 days. Secondly, the oil must be extracted from the holes in the ground (which are caverns washed out of salt domes underground) which takes days, if not weeks, then transported to refineries and made into gasoline (which takes at least 30 days).

Now, tell me how much gasoline prices will be impacted.

they are probably selling it cheap to other countries using their kids companies to broker the deal. thats my guess.

That amount will last maybe 4 days at the daily rate of consumption in the USA.

The so-called strategic petroleum reserve was a total fucking joke from the get-go. Started in the late 1970's, it was a political farce. Current reported "reserves" are about 700 million bbls. Less than 2 months supply, assuming that all of it can be extracted.

Anyone thinking they intend to refill the reserves after this needs a fucking lobotomy.

There will be NO oil refills after the Reserves are gone. These assholes have already stated plainly they intend to run oil companies out of business plus, Extinction Rebellion is threatening to blow up pipelines now.

And Extinction Rebellion is a fucking green cult funded and run by the elites, so that threat is as good as gold.

The more important question is how much liquid fuel is required to fulfill this "Build Back Better Go Green" initiative? From the estimates I've seen most of that metal is still subsurface. Mining is not cheap, and with not-cheap liquid fuels I imagine it might end up costing a bit more than what most people anticipate. I'm not seeing the CAT and DEER solar mining operation. The battery bank would need to be 50x the footprint of the mine. I guess they could start by mining the metals to manufacture the batteries first. The whole thing is comical. Energy density is a thing, and doesn't give way to concerns about "climate change".
