Have to say after reading the crime, he deserved to die very very slowly Stating for the record, I am now in favor of cruel and unusual punishments for violent offenders We need to make some very public examples when rendered by justice We need deterrence. This was disgusting Quoting: Bodiless I too am open to a slower execution for the most vile murderers. Perhaps nothing more than to replicate their own actions upon them. You skin someone alive, you get skinned alive. You torture, you get tortured. Seems just. Quoting: shovelbum In fancy lawyer talk, this is called lex talionis. Lex = law, talionis is the root of retaliate. An eye for an eye. It's not humane, but neither was the crime. As far as punishment goes, I don't think the extended pain accomplishes much in terms of punishing the wrongdoer. I think it'd serve as an example to others, discouraging them from doing bad things. I also think swift punishment is crucial. I don't want mistakes to be made, but if someone knew that there'd be a good chance he'd be harshly punished within two weeks, that'd seem to me to have a deterring effect.
