But first the facts.

How much gas was passing through that line?
All European countries, except Hungary, have greatly reduced or completely cut supplies from Russia, and the same Russia strongly reduced or stopped the flow.
Russia also announced that the ground gas through Ukraine will be stopped. Incidentally, that poses the question of where will Hungary get gas from.

That is not an important source of money for Russia anymore, and it will not be again in the near future; it things go nuclear, never.
Therefore, what does Russia lose blowing up the pipes? substantially nothing.
And what does Russia gains by doing it and not even mentioning that it happened?

Now remember that yesterday there was an alarm signal from Norway, no detail but something to do with a possible threat their gas pipes.

Maybe we have a clue; what happened was not an immediate threat to Europe, let alone "an act of war", but one is forced to think to the pipes from Norway, North Africa, even Atzerbajan, ...
Lot of places where untraceable accidents may happen, but cannot be used as formal reason for reprisals.
Perfect as "penultimate warning", but something to which you may commit only if you are in troble enough, trying to avoid the "last one" from which there is no possible return.

Now the conclusion; who is in that condition, US/NATO or Russia?
