Personally, I don’t see why Russia would sabotage the pipelines. Russia controls the flow of gas, if they don’t want any going through the pipe they stop sending it. Russia needs the pipeline to sell gas and they need to sell gas for 2 simple reasons, one, the money and two, because at some point if they don’t sell the gas to Europe they will fill all their storage and be forced to stop production. Stopping production from producing wells has a cost and without western companies in Russia they may not have the effective manpower. The gas can’t be just diverted to other lines towards Asia as they just don’t have enough capacity.
