I don't know why anyone would need to load another round when one is fed automatically into the chamber of a semi automatic rifle. If he had a live round would have been found in the street. If the rifle had jammed, he would have not gotten the shot off that hit Lefty. I have had the M16 jam on me and misfeed 2 rounds into the chamber and believe you me, it takes more than pulling back on the charging handle to clear those.
