Blaming OPEC is nothing more than deflection. The reporter should have followed up with "Well, gas prices were half what they are now 11 months ago before Biden took office. How do you plan to address this issue outside of OPEC?" |

Any politician or other public official who responds to a legitimate governmental issue in their purview by laughing needs to be removed from office. There seems to be a pandemic of Liberals and Democrats engaging in this behavior these days. Legitimate questions ought to receive legitimate answers. Quoting: Constant Parad0x Blaming OPEC is nothing more than deflection. The reporter should have followed up with "Well, gas prices were half what they are now 11 months ago before Biden took office. How do you plan to address this issue outside of OPEC?" OPEC actually increased output when Trump had the US producing more in order to keep the price down in an attempt to reduce profits for US producers and drive them out of business. That's flooding the market to keep prices down so that those companies that need more profit to pay off their debts and expenses will fail. Now that Biden is shutting down US production, OPEC no longer has the competition. |

We have more oil than they do. The pricing structure isn't really slowing down consumption. We need a minimum flow until we can secure better resources and the cheaper that flow is, the faster we can get to a point where we no longer need it. I don't think we need any false scarcity to promote development of other alternatives, we're already doing that. Personally, I would like to know where we are on fusion reactors. That's the "holy grail". We would be able to burn 100% of the nuclear fuel thereby securing our energy resources for thousands of years. Lockheed put out a press release something like 7 or 8 years ago saying they had a working prototype then nil in the press since. No surprises there as I'm sure Big Oil put the quash on that as soon as they heard about it. |
