They have been saying the Queen is stepping back and allowing Charles handle her duties, but Charles will never be king until his mother is dead. I'm betting, barring unforeseen circumstances, Elizabeth will live to be at least 100. That's about five more years.

If everything goes as planned, Charles is expected to be the next King. He will not abdicate the thrown to his son.
