California ports to fine carriers over congestion
Officials have said they will start fining shipping companies whose cargo containers linger for too long at marine terminals, going into effect Nov. 1, according to USA Today.

In an effort to ease congestion at the nation's busiest port complex, the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach said in a statement that arriving containers scheduled to be moved by trucks will be allowed to stay for nine days before fines start accruing.

Containers set to move by rail can stay at the ports for three days, after that ocean carriers will be charged US$100 per container, increasing in $100 increments per container per day.

Yeah, fines will just fix everything.

It's going to take a lot more coordination between many parties to really fix this problem. Based on what that trucker said, I don't see this problem getting fixed until 2023.

Re: California ports to fine carriers over congestion
que the logic, the Government intentionally stopped offloading of the ships, because they're trying to cause a supply, food and other resource shortages, the workers are ordered not to offload them, the cargo trucks can't come in massive droves because they were depleted per the State's own rules, gas emissions on these older trucks, which are not allowed to do business, and you get a money generating scheme, the plebes get fucked with no favors, material being delivered to the stores onto the shelves and at the same time they're punishing the companies which have nothing to do with the entire crisis and profiting on them ccc

just utter treason

It's not the shipper's fault that the port workers are too slow and most of the cranes sit motionless.

California has also made very bad laws that destroy the trucking business, so there's less ability to move that cargo out of port on trucks.

California has made everything much worse, and now they think they can profit from it through heavy fines.

I think the carriers should start fining the ports for the backups and their unavailability to transport more goods.

See what I did there?

Same thing with the farmers that are sued over GMOs contaminating their crops. Be proactive, if your neighbor plants GMO crops, the bees then carry the pollen to your fields, why can Monsanto prevent the non GMO farmer from selling his crops?

Sue Monsanto for the cross contamination first, before they test your crops. And, what in the hell are they doing in your fields in the first place? Isn't that trespassing?

all the truckers i know refuse to pick up any containers at a port. The red tape needed just to go into the port is mind boggling they wont touch a shipping container no matter what you offer them

The liberals of California about 2 years ago modified laws that had previously made it a felony to KNOWINGLY infect another person with HIV. A disease passed on by mainly homo/bisexual males to other homo/bisexual males.

In turn, such liberals have been - when it comes to SARS-CoV-2 - into Gestapo-type lockdowns and Karen-type mRNA vaxx mandates.

Liberals make the best sociopaths and psychopaths of a society.

Just a way for the port to make more money on their Biden destroyed operations.

The fines will just add to the Biden caused inflation on every product.

If I were in charge of ships with those containers, on the last day before fine I would tune about and head back where I came from. When people ordering do not get their orders, California Governement, every last one of them, phone numbers would be sent to pissed off customers. Bull shit, they think they can pawn this off on the people trying thier best to do a job that regulations in that state make almost impossible to do.
