Here's the weird thing in respect to there supposedly being a shortage of workers, and I recently had a discussion about it with my dental hygienist who observed the same exact thing:
Morning traffic since at least last summer has been AWFUL, heavier than it's ever been. If so many people aren't working how could that be?
