Yea, conditions could lead to a rip. Also 21 volcanos showing signs of the squeeze.

[link to www.volcanodiscovery.com (secure)]

First five hours of La Palma showing sharp gas expansion and associated quakes.
[link to www.ign.es (secure)]

Gassing for days.
[link to www.windy.com (secure)]

Multiple low tremors at sea, squeeze is on here too. The low steady dB signal from deep is steady and just won't go down. RSAM showing low active tremor. It hears something deep and far away.
Deformation for El Hierro has been a steady rise in the island height of 3" over 4 years.
The rift to the Azores has been near quake free after a run of 4-6.0's a month ago.

After last eruption phase 60 days ago, La Palma has roughly averaged 10 quakes a day. Half of those were shallow, but the others were typically at the 6 mile depth, a couple of miles below the ocean floor.
From the sea floor La Palma is higher than Mt. McKinley. The underwater shields of the island are almost vertical.

Worry grows a little on La Palma. Gas levels rose up, 50+ tremors in the last three days, most at sea level under the ridge. Quakes are seemingly rising in amplitude. Dozen quakes about the islands, some ringing in at mantle plume depth.
It ain't over yet.

A lot of us have thought for a while now that folks like Dutch, Ben D (over @ Suspicious 0bservers), few others got taken out back to the wood shed for a stern talking-to.

Happens more than you think to good folks. I say this due to firsthand experience. And I walked away, but have paid the price in various ways. NO REGRETS WHATSOEVER.

The Pacific is where it's happening.

La Palma dealing with a bit of LAZE at this hour. Work halt.
[link to www.windy.com (secure)]

La Palma RSAM tremor signal just won't calm down.
Over 60 tremors in three days. The first deep one in a month 1.9 @ 37km.

Morocco thru Gibraltar getting a 3.3, 3.6, 4.0.
A 4.0 above Barcelona in the Northern Mountains.

There has been over 2000 tremors just off the coast of Morocco near Gibraltar since the eruption. But no big quake in months at that area. Something is moving, but not plate pressure.

Out gassing is still heavy and not moving well on La Palma hanging thick on the volcano side.

[link to www.windy.com (secure)]

But the island Tenerife is now formed a heavy gas pocket over the entire island of NO2, another telltale sign of deep movement.

Even with winds, the low cloud cover is haze on Tenerife. A deep 44km tremor to add to the tremors between Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Tenerife NO2 is as bad as a major city.

La Palmas volcano slope orange haze all day
