User ID: 74912765 United States 10/19/2021 12:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Laundrie lookalike stormed by Police A man with an uncanny resemblance to Brian Laundrie, the sole person of interest in Gabby Petito's homicide, says he was questioned by federal investigators at gunpoint after being mistaken by tipsters as the wanted fugitive. Severin Beckwith, and his travel companion Anna Brettmann, were at a lodge on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina around October 7 when U.S. Marshals stormed into their room. 'Next thing I see is a bunch of guys with riot shields with 'U.S. Marshals' written on them,' Beckwith told The New Yorker. 'Handguns pointed at my face.' 'He told us, "I've been stopped by law enforcement three or four times. OMG What can I do? I look just like him,"' the sheriff recalled. 'I don't know who it was but someone in the room - law enforcement - suggested he change his appearance or maybe shave his beard until the possible suspect was caught.' Beckwith was later released and, according to The New Yorker, given a free night's stay at the lodge for his 'unique troubles.' Sometimes the lookalike is the patsey, Sometimes the lookalike is a distraction. We aren't cut out to be socialists. We are the people who couldn't be constrained by Europe. We are the malcontents, idealists, speculators, dreamers, inventors, debtors and criminals who would not be chained. We don't play well with others, we are brash, outlandish and cunning. let us do what we do best; let us be Americans. |
