I'm retired from the Air Force with pension in the middle twenties. I have been working in the school system and am eligible for a another retirement. Just don't know if I can stop working. Next year drawing early social security I can make 40K+ a year and still wonder If I can stop working at a job I like.

Retired at 55 Living on savings.

Do yourself a favor and get Permanent Residence in another country. Use form 2555. Big tax savings.

Many nice countries you can live well on $800-1000 /month one such country is close to you a you can come and go as you please, you do not have to live there full time

Permanent Residence does not affect your US Citizenship. Your just declaring residence in another country.

Thank you.
Will look into this.
At that rate for $1,000/mo, I could easily split now without a second guess.

I am talking fully retired...
I get where you are. I feel like that, hence why I asked.
But, I would still 'work' but for me, like homesteading and continue with animals with the missus.

My dad's retirement plan was to have a pile of cash and live off the interest.

But this was the UK back in the 90s and he's a sheeple, had no idea the NWO was gonna fuck us over and trash interest rates.

His pile of cash is dwindling every day.

We retired just in time and sold our house before Covid came up otherwise any plan would be difficult.

Very grateful for a timely decision to sell, moved to a small city, and bought a little house with the money we had. No mortgage, small savings in TFSA.We are living on pensions and only the property tax payment is the largest expense monthly or yearly.

Very calming living with not so much, not too little either and enjoy our hobbies and thinking that my husband and I are not dependents on our children and that they are very good also on their own.

I am grateful daily for things that turned out well during this turbulent time.

Thank you, OP. Good wishes to you and all.

BTW, no complaint abt your name handle. It's cute.

Following. 51 years young with networth just under $1m. Annual income of $130k. Just a couple years left on the mortgage. Can't wait to get out of the rat race an live a simple life. I know I'm not there financially just yet but trying to scrape it together. Being dirt poor in my mid 20's taught me that I didn't need much to be happy as those were the best times of my life.

I am retired at under $800/month for everything and have been for over half a decade.

Andrew at Nomad Capitalist is real good and charges a lot for his services. He however makes videos and tells you how to do it yourself.

Technically retired from the military.

I have quite a few side hustles, dividends from stocks and invested in a few local companies which pay a percentage.

Doing alright.

Got destroyed as a landlord, thanks to covid decrees. Was able to recover.

I have been seriously thinking about paying off my mortgage. Still have over 20 years on it, but to be done is very tempting. Only problem is would be quite broke for a while after. I have recently had a shift in my thinking as well not to consume consume consume! But rather save. I struggle with is it better to have the money or a house paid off?

That was my plan before 2020 hit, to travel and work abroad. The dogs had all died. I was free as a bird.
