Just wondering.
Can't shake the thought lately.

I have been steadfast with my finances and really the only thing left I want to do is LIVE. Think homesteading life.
Rainy day fund would last me about 14 years. EDIT: WITH penalties included.
There are other sources I can tap as well.

Like GME? BB? HCMC? BVTK? etc etc etc...

I'm good in the financial dept.
I just don't know which route I'd take in either letting a lot ride, or withdrawing it all and rolling into other non-cash options just to lock in some security.

Yep. Basing this off of savings/investments though while accounting for a 25% total penalty and all that jazz.

My monthly food bill for two eating out a lot is a mortgage payment.
Stupid, yep. But I can do it, so I do it.

Retired at age 55 after running my business for 34 years. While my retirement fund would allow me to upgrade many of my material things, I had an unexpected event that changed my mindset to be less wasteful and be more grateful with what I have.

Used to own many German high performance cars, all with less than 20,000 km of driving before moving on to the next best and greatest. Nowadays, I am driving a 20 year old Toyota Corolla still in great running condition that I bought from my mother in-law.

We all need some money to survive in this world. Having a simple, peaceful, and grateful life is more important to me now than loads of money.

Since my retirement I realized that I haven't really lived until I truly have gratitude. With sincere gratitude in mind and heart, everything is just more beautiful and joyful.

That is exactly why I am wanting to check out.
I was in the car thing, then did the travel thing...
But what I want most is solitude these days.

I don't even care about a reliable internet connection as I can travel a little and do what I need to.
Not looking for a hermit life, just a life with less interference.

Wow you folks are inspiring.

For statistical purposes for those of you who I consider successful; based on your response, please state yes or no for the following:

did you grow up with a father? *a good one
were you inspired at an early age to pursue healthy activies?
does your family communicate well?
were you inspired by God for what his greatness has in store for you?
has your inspiration in God gained you further inspiration to achieve greater success so that you can help yourself to help others?

Would appreciate the feedback. Genuinely intrigued albiet it is an A-3ye system after all so i like to keep it simple

Following. 51 years young with networth just under $1m. Annual income of $130k. Just a couple years left on the mortgage. Can't wait to get out of the rat race an live a simple life. I know I'm not there financially just yet but trying to scrape it together. Being dirt poor in my mid 20's taught me that I didn't need much to be happy as those were the best times of my life.

<- exactly right. There's something about a man or woman; its not about how much they have, or own, but HOW that wealth was acquired and maintained.

Thank you. I will think about what you've shared - Good advice is NEEDED, great and far greater than no advice, and beats bad advice that is too often consistent. Ultimately, good advice and successful testimony will perpetuate a better social and personal structure. May you continuously prosper and God Bless you, in Jesus Christ name.

Thank you for your response. The wording is a little off, its difficult to describe something spiritual in material words. Its not meant to describe woowoo wording just make the point.

Following. 51 years young with networth just under $1m. Annual income of $130k. Just a couple years left on the mortgage. Can't wait to get out of the rat race an live a simple life. I know I'm not there financially just yet but trying to scrape it together. Being dirt poor in my mid 20's taught me that I didn't need much to be happy as those were the best times of my life.

same here I retired at 54 same amount of money. Learn to live within my means. I am now 62 on SS. These assholes are spending themselves into oblivion now, ordering shit, requesting delivery of food, too fucking lazy to get out of their 50,000 vehicle Fuck em all. I sit back and fish all day watching these asholes beat each other up over sale of a house or vehicle. I cannot wait until an emp hits or LApalma landslides

Full disclosure. I did not retire early. I am however, comfortably retired.

I don't worry about jack.

I'm 34. I retired 2 years ago. I started buying property at 19 and started my own successful electrical contracting business about 8 years ago that I eventually sold for a ridiculous amount of money. I'll say that being retired and financially secure isn't all that great. money isn't everything and I still do electrical work for free just because the feeling of doing something for others is a much better feeling than a bunch of money in the bank.

I retired early at 56 after 34 years in a union. I get a nice pension plus I have an annuity that I will not tap into for awhile. I live not needing anything and not having to deal with the bullshit.

I'd still be involved with the missus animal rescue to fill time.
That isn't 'free' though. It is an expense.

The "pause" for covid and watching cities burn last year gave me the push into retirement.....my wife had a nice 6 figure job in NYC, I owned a business and rental properties.....No debt of any kind.....at 60 working another decade for more money seem foolish now.....
