The battery is low in the center of gravity, and any armor would be light to reduce weight. Shoot it from the side, towards the belly, and the battery will likely ignite and cause complete failure.

no need for obedient soldiers when you have robots

edit: and they can get hacked and tricked easier than humans probably

Probably the reason Slow Joe doesn't give a **** about losing service members over the vax mandate.
And the same can be said of private employers. They likely stand ready to replace us with illegals or robots.

Or just imagine a bunch of those with dozens of mini anti-personnel drones using it as a base.

My guess is their power supply will be their weak link. What type of range do they have? Solar recharge capability?

Given the information the public is allowed to digest, you would think that.

The fact of the matter is there is plenty of energy available to harvest.
That information is not for public dissemination.

You need to carry around bags of flour or talcum powder with bits of aluminum foil. Just grab a handful of that stuff and throw it into the air, then make your escape or disable the threat.

if one of these is used against you, it is vitally important that you take it to your local nerd to reverse engineer it to look for weak points. disable the antennas, and expect booby traps. it will have some level of automation or a rudimentary AI. it will fight till it cant anymore.

Now think this connected to starlink and AI and you have autonomous killers robots that can see you from space and hunt you down.

Isn’t it time for counter measures IF that were to be the case?

I call BS on that being the purpose.

If it WAS going to be a purpose, they’re robots.
Are robots invincible?
They’re electronic, no?
Do they command themselves like humans?
How do they respond to certain frequencies?
Being tripped up?
Trip wires, both low and high?

They can producing more and more of these until you're ground down.

Humans always lose against robots.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71906749

Robots are overrated. They have short battery life, which limits their range and would likely only be used to defend a location that has charging stations. They would have very limited field operations because of that, and are not intelligent enough to work with humans in a squad. They can basically navigate and shoot, and that is all.

Their ammunition supply is limited as well to reduce weight, so they will bug out home very quickly, another factor that limits their range and operational ability.

They have to have maintenance, which removes perfectly good troops from the field to re-arm them and repair them.

They are also dependent on a supply chain that is fragile, as we have seen recently. Certainly going to depend on parts from Taiwan, China and Israaaal.

Men will always win over technology like this.
 Quoting: Furtive

Neverending swarms of robots. You don't get it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71906749

This is a worthless product that a defense contractor is trying to peddle to make a buck. That gun is fixed. It cannot shoot targets unless they are at its eye level.

How will that robodog handle a patch of mud, a trench filled with water or a river? It won't. How will it behave in an ambush? It won't, because it only knows how to walk and shoot.

There will never be swarms of these kinds of devices, as the military knows they have limited uses, so they will not buy them. You may think you are making a valid point, but you are not.

See the video of the drone swarm in China designed to create a lighting display at night? A simple programming error and they all fail, falling from the sky. These things don't have the ability to learn or adapt. They cannot even shoot you if you are in a tree. They are worthless in combat.
 Quoting: Furtive

The dogs would be more for attracting a combatant while overhead drones locate and destroy the targets.

They have the high ground up to orbit.

If only there were a robotics engineer here on GLP. It would be helpful for them to be well versed in volcanology, epidemiology, psychiatry, firearm ballistics, supply chain issues, farming, and survival techniques.

6.5mm, Excellent round. Shoots flat, travels far, expends it's energy in the animal. Gets the job done. Yikes. Sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that round.
