Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26669668 It is the bounty before the famine. TPTB are stocking up their bunkers. Fine for those of us who live where the crops are produced. Not so hot for folks in the city who rely on the broken supply chain to get the food from the fields to their tables. More deplorable all the time. |

Tractors, skid steers and 3 different pieces of equipment to produce hay for the the winter. Large hoper feeders for grain to help feed those future steaks. Medication and on and on. It’s pricy. Parts are getting harder to find as well. Last Edited by prorectum on 10/12/2021 12:01 PM Do not comply⚓ |

(OP) I just don't give a fuck User ID: 60052792 United States 10/12/2021 12:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not a farmer by vocation, but have spent many days over the years picking up extra money by running combines, planting rigs, hauling grain to the elevators, and doing fall field work. One thing I have learned is that for the last 2 decades, every piece of machinery involved in the planting, harvesting, transportation process are highly dependent on availability of repair parts, electronics(circuit boards), lubricants, tires, etc. And, in order for planting and harvesting to be done at the right times, these things need to be at or very near your fingertips. Or, the whole dance of crop production goes to shit = no food. I know that an underlying issue with this impending strike are the Covid mandates, even if it doesn't make the news. Let's just say my uncle works for Deere. And, the same issue is set to arise at most, if not all, of the other manufacturers of modern farm equipment. Shortages of truckers, store employees, etc. pale in comparison to what will happen if we can't keep the machinery in the fields that produce it all. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero |
