Question: Will we remember our loved ones who go to Hell ?
I have a Question about a biblical reference I once heard regarding the fate of our loved ones who end up in Hell...

I remember hearing years ago that God will make those who go to heaven forget about their loved ones who end up in hell (so they wont feel sadness for their lost loved ones)l....

Have any one of you heard about this biblical concept?? or know if it's in the bible?? I remember hearing about this years ago and I have asked this question of several biblical scholars (I even wrote Jack Van Impe) and never gotten a reply from them...

Your perspective will be totally different. It says God shall wipe every tear away. This is in heaven so there won’t be any pain. This implies that you will remember, but God’s perspective will somehow be acceptable to you.

27‘Then I beg you, father,’ he said, ‘send Lazarus to my father’s house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also end up in this place of torment.’

29But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let your brothers listen to them.’

30‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone is sent to them from the dead, they will repent.’

31Then Abraham said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

Re: Question: Will we remember our loved ones who go to Hell ?
It never made sense to me that someone would not believe after seeing a loved one return and tell them what happens after death, seems more truthful to say some would believe, others would not and would dismiss it as demons or some trick. Would be funny if Martha and Mary had rushed off screaming ‘Demon, demon’” when saw Lazarus coming out of the tomb.
Instead this story contradicts the other assertion that none would believe, even if someone returned from the dead.

Lazarus Raised from the Dead

John 11:38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.”

Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Re: Question: Will we remember our loved ones who go to Hell ?
Where did the ideas of heaven and hell come from?

As strange as it may seem to us now, there was a time when no one thought they would go to heaven or hell after they died. In fact, there is no mention of them in the Old Testament, and Jesus did not believe the souls of the departed were bound for either realm.

In this gripping history of the afterlife, Bart Ehrman reveals how the concepts of heaven and hell developed and took hold, and why they endure to this day. He examines the social, cultural and historical roots of competing views held by Greeks, J—s and Christians, and traces how beliefs changed over time. Ultimately, he shows that many of our ideas about heaven and hell emerged long after Jesus’s time, through the struggle to explain the injustices of the world.

There is a spirit world with higher and lower planes. We go to the level or plane that matches our beliefs and spiritual development, in other words with others like ourselves. The planes of the cruel and selfish people, being filled only with others like themselves, are like hell.
Like attracts like in the afterlife. But everyone there will have the assistance and opportunity to learn from their previous mistakes and ascend to higher more pleasant areas and company as their understanding and feelings for others changes and improves, and those above, including family members, will assist those below.

Interesting diagrams here. Hell is not eternal.

Hell has been mistranslated.

The Bible mentions the second death.

The first death is your physical death and the second death is when your soul is destroyed. This destruction is eternal.

In Revelation 21:8 "As for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, the murderers, the fornicators, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

Yes, my understanding is God has mercy for even those in Hell and destroys their soul's (so they don't have to suffer for eternity"

Every religion and its god tries to make people believe the ones who don’t believe in it are going to be punished. In other words believing in that religion and that god is more important than your actions and how you treat others. Saved by belief, not by works.
That’s not logical nor justice so it very likely doesn’t work that way in the real universe.
How it really works will make perfect sense. So if it doesn’t make sense, it won’t be what really happens.
