That's fine and I respect everyone's right to engage/disengage with whatever they choose. A part of me has always wanted to go Amish because I think much of the modern world is evil. On the one hand - I think the Amish are well equipped to survive sustainably on their own. Yet, on the other hand, I don't think they're equipped to understand the evil at hand that will rip the rug out from underneath them. One of my favorite movies is "Hacksaw Ridge" - I have a tremendous amount of respect for Desmond Doss - but it would have been quite unrealistic to expect his entire Platoon to live by the very same convictions he did. Sometimes we don't have the luxury to turn away from the evils of the world - some of us are meant to face it head on. |
