"Gravity waves" are undulating clouds caused by varying density...Not the same as 'Gravitational Waves' associated with black holes, etc...

You are correct sir! I'm guessing what we are seeing is related to humidity, dew point. There is enough humidity in the air for clouds to condensate.

The pulses of heat emanating from the volcano immediately evaporate the humidity which then reforms as it condenses outward again like ripples in a pond.

I am making a logical assumption based on what i know about meteorology. The people calling this "Gravity waves" haven't a freaking clue what they're talking about. Typical.

Gravity can be in waves, but this is another phenomenon going by the same name (If I understand this all). Heres from Nature magazine/journal

It's a legitimate term ( [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] ), but it's pretty misleading. It's got nothing to do with the gravitational waves generated by, for example, merging black holes. You're right that it's an atmospheric phenomenon.
