This will be my first winter growing indoors but I have been doing it since the beginning of the spring, so I have more experience than I did when I start it. Just a few pictures of my garden here and there. https://imgur.com/AACmZ4A https://imgur.com/C79jpmj https://imgur.com/eOs775V Oxx |

The old man threw an onion that was attracting fruit flies into the woods like 6 weeks ago. It's totally growing and rooting ... it could stand to be buried but I'm just going to let it go. I love to look at it when I get into my car it's in a weird place. From what I read ... three onions will come. When the shit hits the fan and the end is just nigh, will you cry out to Heaven? Will you lie down and die? Not me, my dear one - THIS IS MY SACRED LIFE - to no one nor no thing I'll surrender. For how does one know where when dead she will go, or if sweet Mother Earth he'll remember? - Sug |

There are farm stands everywhere I'm a lucky vegetarian living where I do. All the other farm stands close around now, but the Mennonites down the road grow their own lettuce and tomatoes, at least, all winter. They get to stamp that it as Jersey Fresh and I happily pay for it all winter (until now with my cool raised beds, screw them I can do that myself). That's really cool I hope you really enjoy all that food! When the shit hits the fan and the end is just nigh, will you cry out to Heaven? Will you lie down and die? I also live in a place where I’m surrounded by farms and there are a lot of Mennonite farms around here who do great carpentry work. So I got food and furniture covered. Our local farmers market just had their last week but during the winter they have an online community with all the farmers there and they do deliveries once a week that’s pretty nice as well. The food just taste so much better when it comes from real people rather than a grocery store and I have found that I have a better immune system than I had ever had before. Oxx |

I have a frame to go on my raised bed. Don't know if it will get too cold for them or not, but figured it was worth a try and only cost a couple of bucks. Quoting: GA Girl I have my man making me easy on/off covers for my raised beds out of cheap plastic piping so fingers will be crossed im hoping he gets into it and puts them on hinges for me if you are in georgia you should be able to eek out some veggies easier than me in NJ, temperate as it gets here We'll see. At least the deer can't get to the plants with the top on the bed. I had to keep it on almost all summer and just vent it a little to keep those critters at bay. They eat EVERYTHING! It's very difficult to garden when you have deer. Definitely a love-hate relationship. |

It's very difficult to garden when you have deer. Definitely a love-hate relationship. Tell me about it. Deer are the number one problem here. They've destroyed our corn two years in a row, and between them and the groundhogs that's why we built the raised beds. We have two acres, and the deer hang out pretty far out back near the "big garden". We have to use the "big garden" if we want to really get the summer stuff going. I'm researching all kinds of fencing configurations and scare away techniques. I hope yours is going well despite our furry friends!
