If you are going to get specific, the name Jesus was not the name of Christ in his time on earth.

His name was Aramaic and it was the language he spoke in his place and time. His name was Isho and his mother was also not called Mary, her name was Miryam. Syriac Christians still utilize the original names, not sure why others choose the made up versions, but I am sure this is understood regardless.

Why names were changed hundreds of years after death no one’s really knows for sure, different people and places and languages interpreted how they wished to interpret.

I just think if your faith is true you will want to study intently the origins and proceed accordingly.
