It will be a great doom break from the darkness.

The Hobbit (1977) is probably my favorite animated feature of all time. Fantastic Planet (1973) is a contender too.

Hello!! hugs where did you get that silly thing? Lol that made me spit take my coffee!!! Lol!

Yes, I’m still writing. I was tearing it up for a while but have come to a place where I am stalled. I started an actual novel then some things got changed up in my personal life and I moved and I just haven’t been in the creative mind frame for a few weeks. Can’t figure out how to proceed in the scenario I created and not motivated atm to ponder it for any length of time!

It’s the twilight zone for a writer. I am sure I will get back to it soon though.

How about you? You are always prolific with your great stories. Are you flowing?

Southwest Missouri, northwest Arkansas is a cool place. Beautiful beyond words and a happening mountain biking community if you’re into that. If not you can hike the trails. It looks like England there, imo.

Only among writers and musicians can the phrase "tearing it up" be a good thing. But it is-- it so is!

I think that's great, Fossy. Even the temporary roadblock, that's great too. Because I bet you'll get around it (or over, or under it, or all three)-- just like that song, about love-- and you'll be a better writer because of it.

Also, such a great comment when you write, "...I just haven’t been in the creative mind frame for a few weeks. Can’t figure out how to proceed in the scenario I created..."

Wow, I can totes McGoats relate to that. I think we all can. We humans, we unstoppable creators. All I know personally about creating is song writing, story writing, and cooking-writing. And in cooking, no matter how it looks I'll serve it as long as it tastes good. Same thing with songwriting, actually.

Novels are a little different, although a year ago I had never written one, so what the hockey sticks to I know? But I have learned a few things recently. And if you don't mind, I'll bend your ear a little:

robinwilliams

* If you're like me--that is, not writing for profit--then the whole world is at your fingertips. Literally, and literarily. If one part of the story (story "arc") isn't jiving with the rest of your corpuscles, don't sweat it: forget it!

--> By that I mean, take a wide berth and keep writing the story, even if it's about something else. Use your narrator/narrative powers to seize the reins of storytelling and go off on a fun tangent. Write about how hard it is to write! Talk about some other aspect of the world you are creating. Ancient intra-book history, or some red herring story which amuses you while you write it. Shake things up-- no one will appreciate it more than you, Fossy. Which is the way it will have been supposed to be. Trust me ;)

* As an experiment, try some day to write as if you have the full expectation of deleting that day's work after you finish it. A free day of writing, where anything goes. Using the dictum "tis easier to edit than to write," just have yourself a Fossy ol' blast and write whatever comes to mind. After all, you're just going to "delete it all" later, right? Right!

So... write!

johnthis

* You mention a twilight zone, and that you'll get back to writing eventually. Good for you, and of course you will. And yet while there's no time the present -- or even if the present is just a pair of smelly socks -- well, there's always tomorrow, too.

Never underestimate the power of tomorrow. If you keep saying you'll do something tomorrow, you almost always will. Even if it takes a couple weeks. There is no harm nor shame in enjoying each day as it comes. All I'm trying to say is that sometimes today even sweeter if you find yourself looking forward to the next day, too.

Exclamation point!

Be well, my friend.
You are powerful force on GLP, and probably even moreso in real life. Keep on keepin' on, sister.
