Could Covid cause myocarditis?
I see a lot of threads on here claiming that the vaccine causes myocarditis, but have you ever considered that Covid might be causing myocarditis? I don't mean in the acute phase, but perhaps on re-exposure or possibly as a long term side effect of Covid? I have come to these conclusions after my own personal experiences with Covid and a little research.

My daughter had Covid twice since this pandemic began, both times with symptoms that were barely more than a cold. Naturally this made me question the severity of this virus, especially given that I either did not get the virus or had very mild symptoms as well. However, a few months ago I started having 'episodes' during which I would become extremely fatigued to the point of having to lay down that moment and then having my heart flutter around in my chest, almost feeling as though it were in my throat. It was also difficult to breathe during these episodes. Around this time I would also randomly feel dizzy and have sharp chest pains. My daughter reported similar symptoms. I can't say this was myocarditis, but I did start wondering what this could be. I attributed it to stress, anxiety. However, then I came across an Army doctor who mentioned myocarditis. I had never heard of it, so I did a basic Google search and looked at the first link, one from Mayo Clinic. [link to www.mayoclinic.org (secure)]

If you read down far enough, to the 'Causes' section, you may be surprised to see that the first cause listed is viruses, and Covid is right there in the list:

Causes
Often, the cause of myocarditis isn't identified. There are many potential causes but the risk of developing myocarditis is rare.

Potential causes of myocarditis include:
Viruses. Many viruses are commonly associated with myocarditis, including the viruses that cause the common cold (adenovirus);
COVID-19; hepatitis B and C; parvovirus, which causes a mild rash, usually in children (fifth disease); and herpes simplex virus.

Gastrointestinal infections (echoviruses), mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus) and German measles (rubella) also can cause myocarditis.
It's also common in people with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

I just read an article yesterday that suggested COVID could cause myocarditis, but I can’t remember the title or the website name. What I did was to search using a term very similar to your thread title.

If you stumble across it, please post it. After having read the Mayo article, I wondered why that wasn't mentioned more. Maybe it is too scary of a thought, having a serious condition after catching a cold basically.

The symptoms fit so it is possible. Have either of you had any swelling of hands or feet, arms or legs? If so you might want to schedule with your physician.

If either or both of you have it you might have to take meds for a while (depending on severity) but if not severe it will usually solve itself with time. Stay away from salty stuff as much as possible.

I'm a heart patient and have had covid, I'm still kicking so the odds are good you will both be okay- but play it safe and see your doctor.

Re: Could Covid cause myocarditis?
It’s stated that it does in their “fda approval”

Additionally, the FDA conducted a rigorous evaluation of the post-authorization safety surveillance data pertaining to myocarditis and pericarditis following administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine and has determined that the data demonstrate increased risks, particularly within the seven days following the second dose. The observed risk is higher among males under 40 years of age compared to females and older males. The observed risk is highest in males 12 through 17 years of age. Available data from short-term follow-up suggest that most individuals have had resolution of symptoms. However, some individuals required intensive care support. Information is not yet available about potential long-term health outcomes. The Comirnaty Prescribing Information includes a warning about these risks.

Perhaps but not in the same way as the vaccine.

The mRNA gets into your blood vessels which are SMOOTH on the inside to minimize pressure to pump it around you body. The mRNA instructs the SMOOTH cells to replicate and create spike cells turning your smooth artery walls and veins into a something like a cat's tounge. This creates excellent points where platlets and such can collect initating that clotting problem, this is also a problem for the heart. Worse, your capilaries in your lungs have the same issue but those are so small they can pretty much die, never to be replaced again. All this puts huge stress on your heart.

This is also cumulative, just wait until people line up for booster after booster for this stuff.

Originally, I was cautiously optimistic, at this point, I'm totally anti this vax due to the effects it's showing.

Re: Could Covid cause myocarditis?
Section 505(o) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) authorizes FDA to
require holders of approved drug and biological product applications to conduct
postmarketing studies and clinical trials for certain purposes, if FDA makes certain
findings required by the statute (section 505(o)(3)(A), 21 U.S.C. 355(o)(3)(A)).
We have determined that an analysis of spontaneous postmarketing adverse events
reported under section 505(k)(1) of the FDCA will not be sufficient to assess known
serious risks of myocarditis and pericarditis and identify an unexpected serious risk of
subclinical myocarditis.

Furthermore, the pharmacovigilance system that FDA is required to maintain under
section 505(k)(3) of the FDCA is not sufficient to assess these serious risks.
Therefore, based on appropriate scientific data,

So yeah...according to the FDA, myocarditis is a SERIOUS RISK OF THE VACCINE.

SO "claiming" that the vaccine causes myocarditis??, well the FDA considers it a SERIOUS RISK.

Well know in 2025 when the results of the EXPERIMENTAL TRIALS are due.

Gonna stick this shit in children huh?

Hooray for Dr. Mengele.

don't know, both of what you say sound plausible!

shared needles, re-used one-person needles, trouble.

The heart is pretty well insulated against infections except for those that are in the bloodstream.

unless you have fulminant sepsis. That won't happen too often in a healthy person.

the infectious agent is injected into a vein or muscle, and from there to the heart. That is how I have seen young people hospitalized with pericarditis.

Pericarditis is infection of the tissue layer surrounding the heart

Myocarditis is infection of the muscle itself.

Re: Could Covid cause myocarditis?
Anecdotal but; know 4 people who had COVID who had heart concerns.

Couple, early 40’s, healthy & fit, no underlying medical issues caught COVID early first wave. Both ended up in ER weeks after “recovering” with racing hearts. His was stabilized with IV drugs, hers wasn’t, they had to stop her heart & restart it. Neither have had any additional issues. They lost an elderly family member to COVID after two month hospital battle.

60’s, retired RN, very fit & active. No major underlying medical conditions. Had out of state family sending her “treatment” including hydroxychloroquine. Almost died in her condo alone. Luckily son owns a contract medical provider company and got her X-rays and treatment at home. Once treated with antibody treatment she started improving. It was a long, slow recovery to simply regain strength. Took months for her heartbeat to stabilize, she’d have periods of it racing with no exertion. Her family blamed the “internet” treatments she’d used. This was spring of ‘21, likely Delta variant but don’t know for sure.

Mid 50’s male, no daily medications, healthy weight, etc. He & wife caught Delta in late July. He was hospitalized almost immediately, she was fine treating at home. Elevated blood pressure & racing heart evident in hospital when not exerting plus breathing difficulties. He died just after his 55th birthday in ICU. Less than 3 wks from infection.

Another friend, 50’s, an MS patient who was fully vax’d also caught Delta in July & was hospitalized spent three days in ICU w a raging fever & was given oxygen but never intubated. Recovered after about 30 days in hospital. Still doing breathing treatments & not fully recovered but no known heart issues. (To my knowledge!)

I've had very similar symptoms, since childhood actually. I get episodes now and then.

Some of the things I take now I think treat the causes very well. Specifically transresveratrol and oregano oil. That and the more common multi vit type stuff.

Because if severe reflux isn’t treated in baby and below five… you get stuck with it.

How do I know?

I managed 2 with it. And because it was treated and certain foods were avoided… they out grew it.

If only more kids had real pediatricians and not general Practitioners maybe y’all wouldn’t be stuck with it. Sorry.
