Re: Parents.. be honest... do you have kids that you just never liked?
A few facts need to be revealed regarding "parenting".

Some people can do it and some can't. Of course everybody can "be" a parent. But to "parent" (as a verb) is completely different.

When a person desires a child and plans for that child's arrival, then gives birth to that child; More often than not that child means the world to that parent (or those parents). Good parenting is the result. On that note once these types of people become a parent suddenly their own desires and needs become secondary. The wellbeing of their offspring are all that matter thereafter.

Parents that become parents by accident have a 50/50 wakeup call. Some flourish as parents and become that same type of Parent I mentioned above. The other 50% behave as the op stated. They end up hating a child or all of their children.

But here is the wisdom in my point...if your hate your child in reality you hate yourself and see something in the child that reminds you of yourself.

When a parent runs into a person that is childless by choice the conversation can seem pointless and mundane or petty to the parent. It's common. From the point of view of good mother or father people without children serve no purpose. Because according to a real parent people without children will never rise to the next level of humanity. Selflessness.

I myself have conversations with childless people often....and all I can say is holy fucking shit are you motherfuckers lost in a daze of self involved idiocy on level 10. You're not a complete person and cannot empathize with parents. However the parent knows full well what it's like to be childless.
 Quoting: Chip

I hear you, but I am 100% on your side.

I am a parent that simply never was.

I won't even attempt to parent your kids out in public, but I'll be damned if I'm going to watch these freaks fuck with them.

Remember that movie, "The Good Son"?

If you had to save one of them.. surely you know which one..

In past times, resources were scant, and the children that reflected the desirable traits of their parents were often favored and given more food than their siblings.

Harsh, but true.

Nope... my child rocks! He's my world :-)...

Some people would do anything to have a chance at bringing new life into the world... mine was what all the Dr's and nurses called "a miracle baby" as I'm lucky enough to have had him...

My blood group and his father's blood groups clashed when I was pregnant so it was a close watch...

Parents do this for their children all of the time. Just because we don't know the details of a family's last moments doesn't mean those events don't happen. When you hear about a family that burned in a house fire, these types of (good son) decisions are often being made. Often the parents can't save them all and they all die trying.

Love can be dangerous.

I have 4 children, all girls. Two different dads<-has nothing to do with how I feel about them they are all MINE, two adults and two teens. I love all of them equally 100% and would lay down my life for any one of them to this day BUT I consider two of them liberal, brainwashed traitors currently. I love them, but we are not currently speaking and that is fine by me after the traitorous bs they pulled. It's weird because I still love them 100% and am not even angry at them but I don't trust them any further than I can throw them.

And you are raising children with this mindset? Holy damn.

i have two daughters, a brainy one and a ditzy one...

i love them absolutely as much as one person can love.

i have to "handle" them differently.. the ditzy one cares about eating taki's and wants to become a witch, and wants to play sports.

the brainy one wants to be on student counsel and experiment with bugs and catch minnows in our creek and release them in the lake down the street..

haha, yeah i love them both :)

I'm pretty happy about the outcome of who stands where on this thread. It appears that those against children shouldn't have them anyway. It's better that their bloodlines die off as we move forward improving the world.

I love my kids. Before covid, we'd get together for family vacations once a year. They would come here for Thanksgiving. We would go for walks, play family games, sit at the table and talk for hours. Typing this is making me cry. I haven't seen my kids in almost 2 years.
