That or seeing a hanged man at a very young age. Quoting: eyeDR3 Childhood trauma, another addition to PTSD. Post traumatic Stress! Our brains process these KEY events over and over because they are like an alarm that goes off, danger, warning, alert. To calm those alarms it takes some work on our part to make that alarm turn off. |

It's kind of fun to do the impossible. User ID: 78268903 United States 09/18/2021 07:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | PTSD is real. I had it for years. I was in a mobile home that took a direct hit from an F2 tornado. I was in 5th grade. I would have gut twisting fear every time a severe thunderstorm came along. It took a long time but the symptoms subsided. I can now watch the movie Twister, in the dark, sound up during the tornado scenes, with the lights off - during a thunderstorm. Worse that can happen is death. Use that fact. They never thought she would lose. Now they all lose. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80611932 United States 09/18/2021 07:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People think everything is PTSD these days. You fart and somebody swears it gives them PTSD. Guy I once worked with who was a veteran claimed that he was fine when he came home until he watched the movie Bambi, and then his PTSD became active. Everyone these days claim to have PTSD. I mean it’s usually nothing that’s even traumatic usually, they claim they have it. “I have PTSD, that’s why I’m so jumpy. “ as they jump into their little karate pose. “So what gave you PTSD?” They respond with something stupid like, “My ex-boss thought I was cute and grabbed my ass one night, and I slapped the shit out of him, and now….I have PTSD.” It’s a real “fuck you” to people that actually are really dealing with that shit. It’s like, “So you never served in the military? Never witnessed a friend or multiple friends be murdered in front of you? Never had the shit kicked out of you for years on end? Been exposed to weeks, and months of countless enemy mortars being fired upon your position? Guy grabbed your ass…..oooookkkkkkaaaayyyy.” Not saying you don’t have it OP…..just saying I see a lot of people claiming to have it, that don’t and just apparently want people to feel pity for them or something. I mean….there’s life and shit that happens in life, and then there’s torture…..grotesque violence perpetrated in front of you or to you. Loud explosions you have been exposed to for weeks, months, maybe years on end. People actively trying to kill you….these things are what normally cause traumatic mental problems like PTSD. Being someone that has perpetrated said types of violence would give you PTSD potentially, (doesn’t happen to all killers but to many), but maybe not. I’m not a psychiatrist, but I would venture to say that what you experienced one time in your life probably isn’t enough to actually cause you to have PTSD, but rather just make you scared of living in an environment where that event possibly could happen again. What you went through was traumatic sure, but so are a lot of other things in this world. Usually it takes more than one event to cause PTSD. Seems like it tends to be a cumulative thing, many traumatic events over a relatively short time that actually causes it. You know like soldiers going into combat….it’s why they come home with it, they have experienced many traumatic events in a relatively short period of time, and it becomes the norm. They compartmentalize it in the environment that they are in because they don’t have the luxury of getting deep into their feels. It’s not until they come home and have to adjust to a world or life outside of that, new norm that they had to adopt to stay alive. So yeah in conclusion a lot of people claim they have PTSD, but really they’re just pussies who can’t deal or cope with a few minor surprises or rough spots in their life. That’s what I think. |

Something makes him a bitter soul... something traumatic. People in denial live horrible lives. |
