My opinon, you're kid needs to toughen up, and so do you. Just how I feel about it. My kid is tougher than you think. Has been taught a lot about fighting, karate, logic, and was left felt tortured. We are going to address the situation with the child. So they will know it's ok to use your voice and disobey these harsh torture tactics on elementary school students. This was not a situation we had ever considered or addressed. Who thinks entire classrooms of children will be forced to sit in the heat without being able to move, not listened to their objections, and punished if they do object? This situation will be resolved or we will pull our child out of school. |

They are un-teaching the things they should be over teaching. Like basic human rights. Like the first time I heard about Free Speech Zones on college campuses and I was screaming ' I thought that the entire campus was a Free Speech Zone '! Quoting: Psychopathicon Discipline is always good if wisely structured and used fairly but never at the expense of a child's health, mental or physical. If they said it was torture then it was. Believe your kids 1st over anyone else, until you have more data to decide. Lock that teacher in a hot car for 5 minutes. Yep, they are training kids to be good little tax slave commies. They sure don't want any of us of any age able to talk freely about anything, anywhere, anytime. Unless you use an approved platform that they have total control over. |

Today some children were talking when they were in line so they had everyone sit in the sun and wait there at least 5 minutes before they were allowed back inside. My child described it as torture. The children that were still talking were then forced to run a lap around the basketball courts. My question, is this form of punishment ok? My child wasn't even one of the ones talking. I spent 5 minutes outside in the direct sun today and I was sweating hard. But at least I could walk over into the shade if I wanted. Remove your child from that environment. Man up....DAD. |

I think I would feel bad if they were fired, but to sit kids in the hot sun with no chance to walk to a shaded area and then force some to run laps, it just seems extreme. I don't think you should feel badly if the teacher is fired. It was unconscionable what they did. Bad enough to sit them in the sun but to make them run laps...absolutely the teacher should be fired. When some posters spoke of being a kid out in 90 degree weather that was a long time ago I am certain before most kids stayed inside air conditioned homes, cars and schools. And, sadly, most kids are not as healthy as when we were kids. It was a dangerous thing the teacher did and some children could have had heat stroke or heat exhaustion. The teacher should be fired for incompetence, although, I believe it was done intently to be cruel because the kids would not quiet down. |

Oh, it's being considered without a doubt. You can't punish children 7 years old with possible heat stroke. It will never happen again and if it does we will directly intervene within minutes. We had hesitations already about public schools. But thought it might be best because in person learning. After almost 2 years of remote learning. Kids that age don't want to learn through a computer. |

I was 7 in the second grade. I walked or ride my bike to school (about 1.5 miles) it got over 90 from May to September. I went from school to piano lessons, another mile. I went home and fed the horses and mucked the stalls. Then I might ride one. When I was 7 I was only allowed to ride the Shetland pony (ginger)for an hour. Did my homework, played outside and got home in time for dinner. I also pulled bullets apart to make my own firecrackers. Your kid is a wimp. |
