Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78453369 What's the age of a "second grade" child? Masktarding is crimmynol per definition, but i need to know details to decide my punishment. (Waterboarding, pulling off limbs with 4 horses running in 4 different directions, and/or lamp post hanging) 7 years old. Masks are not currently required at the school, only on the bus. Anything else you want to know? I've answered other questions in previous replies. |

After lunch they go to recess. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80379140 When recess is over they have the kids lineup and take them inside. Today some children were talking when they were in line so they had everyone sit in the sun and wait there at least 5 minutes before they were allowed back inside. My child described it as torture. The children that were still talking were then forced to run a lap around the basketball courts. My question, is this form of punishment ok? My child wasn't even one of the ones talking. I spent 5 minutes outside in the direct sun today and I was sweating hard. But at least I could walk over into the shade if I wanted. demand the teachers do the same or be sued |

Now, take it from me, don't be a Karen in dealing with this. Just go in and quietly tell the principal that you think lap running in the heat is a bad liability issue but you don't want to make a big deal about this incident. |

Waiting for Monday when we are supposed to hear back from the school. If we don't get an acceptable answer we will escalate to higher authorities. Heat stroke is a serious issue. As this happened to all students during recess, probably half the school, I am hoping other parents hear similar stories from their children and complain to the school. |

When I was a kid playing outside and running around all day at 90 degrees+ was a good time. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79302659 I'm certainly not crying. Yeah we've all played outside in the sun, but at least if we felt hot we could tell someone or walk over somewhere in the shade. And we weren't forced to run laps either. This is recess. As another poster mentioned, children can't regulate their body temperature as well either. I've never heard my child describe anything as being tortured before. Don't listen to this asshole. The sun's output today is much different from when most of these pissants were in school. Plus it wasn't specified if the kids were sitting on concrete between two concrete structures, like a concrete wall and concrete sidewalk. The presence or lack thereof will be a huge factor as well. Being in direct sunlight sitting on concrete where it meets a concrete or brick wall with no air movement after playing hard on the playground would indeed be torture for anyone. Concrete has reflective properties that rival mirrors and it and the wall could have been radiating infrared radiation topping 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Without a breeze that's like literally sitting inside an oven. This should be made aware to higher-ups. To Ignore Tyranny is to Give It Medium to Thrive. |

When I was a kid, they would paddle you. Guaranteed that is more extreme the sitting or running in the sunshine (which we also did plenty of). Your kid is not a glass doll. |

First, don't trust anyone with your children except yourself or family ..nobody...I homeschooled Mine for the most part, but I didn't have to work despite being a single parent ...I would pull them out and try to work at home. Public schools are secretly giving young kids covid shots anyway ..a friend's child ( also 2nd grade) in Michigan came home and told her mom...thank God they didn't succeed but when you let your child go to govt public schools, you basically sign over your rights...they do what they want with your child...when they feel like it...public schools aren't designed to learn...they are made to create more little tax paying slaves that are all alike...they look down on individuality and gifted Children and chastise them if they are different...they want robots that comply and obey...the history they teach are mostly all lies too ...total bullshit...they are indoctrination centers at best...your child's education is your responsibility, not a stranger's. Good luck. |

The punishment is a little harsh for the crime. Why not take 5 minutes off of their next recess? Quoting: Justthefacts12345 Sitting children in the sun for punishment is taking a risk that any one of them may suffer heat stroke! So, from a nurse's point of view, that teacher has a problem. I have no problem with punishing bad behavior, but this ain't the kind of punishment they deserve. The teacher is obviously immature & angry! Complain to the principle! I agree. Losing 5 min. off the next recess would be the logical thing to do. sitting kids out in the hot sun for 5 minutes isn't to punish its done to cause physical pain. I would ask the principal for a meeting with the teacher to discuss your concerns. |
