Take your child out of that day care, complain about it on FB and get other parents to protest their treatment. Get City and child safety services to investigate, get the business licensed pulled and then shut them down

I was 8 years old when I dropped face first into sand on a hot day. Passed out quickly. Woke up in the aid tent and off via ambulance I went to the ER.

Young children cannot regulate heat as easy as we think.

Parents crying about discipline are making weak assed kids. When I was a kid playing outside and running around all day at 90 degrees+ was a good time.

I do not think it is abusive. So long as they are not withholding water after they come inside.

A complaint was made the moment we got home and I heard more of the story. I think I would feel bad if they were fired, but to sit kids in the hot sun with no chance to walk to a shaded area and then force some to run laps, it just seems extreme.

I'm certainly not crying. Yeah we've all played outside in the sun, but at least if we felt hot we could tell someone or walk over somewhere in the shade. And we weren't forced to run laps either. This is recess.

As another poster mentioned, children can't regulate their body temperature as well either. I've never heard my child describe anything as being tortured before.

They can't make high school football players run in 90 degree weather. Because they drop dead!

When it is humid and at least 90 degrees, children should not play outside for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Why would they punish them with sitting in the sun for 5 minutes if it wasn't to make them uncomfortable. The punishment is a little harsh for the crime. Why not take 5 minutes off of their next recess?

Sitting children in the sun for punishment is taking a risk that any one of them may suffer heat stroke!

So, from a nurse's point of view, that teacher has a problem. I have no problem with punishing bad behavior, but this ain't the kind of punishment they deserve. The teacher is obviously immature & angry!

If they were wearing masks, it would be dangerous.
If they were just outside and were being disciplined they were learning a harsh lesson.

If your child said it was torture, then it was probably miserable, but running a lap is a very old-school type of training.

Sometimes, at school, the whole class does get punished and it makes all of them aware. Remember when everyone had to put their heads on their desks because one kid was being a pain? The kid that was the pain in the neck learned to be good because of the peer pressure that happened.

Again, no answer--just ideas about the situation. I think I would be frustrated, but I would rather have this situation than have all the kids have to wear masks all day. To me, the masks are really torture.

Kids aren't allowed to talk anymore? This is physical punishment. Some people over there fucked up, torturing little kids, group punishment, forced exercise under duress. Let the other parents know, this is not in any way acceptable. Get a lawyer.

take a look at the vaxx and covid game.. seam thing... I grew up in school with this shit. Military uses it in basic training... I think its time to stop punishing anyone for the choices of another to gain compliance of another.

Yes when you can move around, turn your back to the sun, or let a teacher know if you are ill it's not a problem. But when you're forced to sit in the sun, unable to move around and the teacher won't listen to your concerns it's a problem.

I don't think I would have been nearly as concerned if the students came inside and had to sit down in the hallway and if they raised their hand the teacher would listen to them.

I remember in the nineties came about sueing and schools changed things regarding because they didn't want to get sued. Cancel school for a slight rain.
