SPACEX launched 4 CIVILIANS into SPACE yesterday... BUT since then NO footage of them in SPACE? | |

Answer my question, did you read it? Yes or no? Last chance. He's right. Prove that musk 'engineered' anything and by 'participated', it doesn't simply mean vomited a few thousand dollars of ponzi money into a project like he always does. Read the book. He did more than throw money at the problem, he oversees the designs. His engineering philosophy often finds him butting heads with other engineers, the book details this brilliantly. This is why SpaceX deleted the landing legs from Starship and will try to catch it with fucking arms on the launch tower. It's crazy, but Elon's design philosophy is to delete as much as possible from the vehicle itself, make everything as reusable as possible, and move as much onto the ground support equipment side as possible. Normal rocket companies don't work this way. Correct, normal rocket companies don't allow a person with no schooling in rocket science or physics to determine the design of rockets that will hold human beings. Normal rocket companies allow stable, intelligent rocket scientists to design their rockets, not guys who help code paypal. And that has worked out soooo well for Boeing that they still can't even complete an unmanned test of their capsule in the time it's taken Elon Musk and SpaceX to launch 14 people to orbit across 4 different missions. |

That's technically not space, Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80270223 You don't get to define that. Space is defined as starting at 100 km or so just above the Karmen line. This particular mission is flying right at the boundary between the thermosphere and the exosphere. Technically the atmosphere even extends to the moon at times, that doesn't mean the moon is not in space. But it does mean he was right and you are nitpicking. |

Look at the size they make the earth out to be ... from a mere 375 miles up, you'd think they were a quarter of the way to the moon based on the size of the earth. Quoting: Malleus [link to twitter.com (secure)] It's nearly the exact same backdrop they used for the Tesla in space. I bet if you compared the two backgrounds the cloud formations would be identical. Just go to Google Earth. You can't even put the camera down as low as 600 kilometers. Lowest you can get it to go is 3259 km, 5.5 times the distance this thing is going. And the earth looks gigantic from that altitude. |

Retard alert You're talking to the guy who wrote the best amateur software out there for tracking satellites with off the shelf equipment. Most are faint. Most require long exposures. These are facts. Those that are bright enough to be seen easily by naked eye are typically lower the orbit, relatively large, and can only be seen near the terminator either at morning or dusk. The easiest way to spot satellites from orbit is with long exposures pointing towards the terminator when the sun is still below the horizon for the observing spacecraft. |

Quoting: Poster Nutbag During the launch, while sitting on top of a rocket at 4Gs just holding out their arms for fist bumps. No shaking or wobbling from the effects of being shot into space. Camera steady as a rock. No shaking. It looked fake AF. My 2¢ No solid rocket boosters. That's primarily why the shuttle was so shaky. Asrtro, I have the utmost respect for you, your work, and your qualifications. That being said, I work in an industry where a loud noise from a speaker or musical instrument shakes all but stable-cams (and sometimes even those when you match it's resonant frequency). I can't believe that a rocket engine (much louder) wouldn't do the same. I also can't believe that they were able to so easily lift and hold their arms steady under those conditions. I mean no offense Astro. I rely on your knowledge here on the reg. Edited to say that I just went back and read some other posts and people here can really be assholes. I'm not saying the earth is flat, the launch didn't happen, or people have never been to space. I just think what we were shown as happening inside the capsule in real time is suspicious. Here's FakeX's claim of the view from about 575 kilometeres high: [link to twitter.com (secure)] Now here's what Google Earth says the earth should look like a fair bit higher than that (about 661 kilometers high) ... a view of Northeast Ohio. [link to earth.google.com (secure)] I mean, they can't even keep their lies straight. Maybe they don't care, because the visual from FakeX is required to indoctrinate people that the earth is a rotating ball. They know the flat earthers have figured out their BS and are not going to be convinced, so they put this stuff out there to keep the majority of the population asleep. Next time these "normies" encounter a flat earth argument, they'll remember this fake picture and think ... but, but, but I saw a picture from Inspiration 4 of the globe earth. It's not hard to make that software dude. All you need to do is set a loop that detects when the pixels that make up the rocket get close enough to one of the edges of the frame. When this happens, the algorithm decides whether to move the x servo or the y servo, and by how much to move it. This is pretty rudimentary stuff and you look like a fool acting like nobody else with knowledge of programming and electronics can do that. I've actually done very similar stuff with nvidia GPUs and object detection libraries. |
