Correct..Just Imagine how much of this goes on that we never hear about. We took care of Grandma at home until she passed. Same thing for Mom when its her turn .

I kept my parents out until there was absolutely no alternative. And then I stayed vigil at my dad's side until he died a couple days later. As a nurse, no one objected. They provided food for me, too.

My mom was under my daily care for years living in a small nearby house. Then she moved in with us, after deteriorating, until her violence became too much for my ailing husband to bear.
She wanted to live "on her own again" and got it, in an Alzheimer's place.

she lasted just over a month there. I was with her in the ER when she died. They did her no favors there.

no good comes from nursing homes, no matter how necessary they may be.

I wish it were different. There have been alternative plans and ideas for nursing homes, and I wanted to start one, but in the end

family, and good friends, aided by visiting nurses, are the best.

almost all nursing homes have been like this for the last 25 yrs, you are in denial if you think otherwise. Tend your fragile elderly in your home, NEVER put them in a warehouse
