Friday night's when all the bad news hits the tube from the beltway. I like watching it go Up & down. "It isn't about what you & I think, it's about what is." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 293715 United States 01/18/2008 09:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I heard on Headline News this morning that the "Stimulus Plan" is just an advance on next year's tax refund. In other words, IT'S A TRAP. The only sane thing to do with that money is to bank it in whatever you feel is the most responsible way possible so that when they raise taxes next year, you have something to pay the extra burden with (having gotten your refund ahead of time). I suppose passing out shackles would have been to obvious, huh? |

It is too psychologically damaging to have the numbers down again. Especially with the US market closed on Mon. It will be up today from yesterday's low, but not enough. The Orignal. User ID: 8107 United States 01/18/2008 09:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Boeing is unchanged, but has gone from 107 in September to about 79 now. If you owned about two thousand shares, which might be typical for a long-term employee with a 401(k), it means you lost about $56,000 over the past 4 months. Add to that a hit of maybe $30-50 thousand on the value of your home, and if you were within a year of retirement, you might be changing your plans. I'm planning on retiring in about three or four years. If the stock and the home values don't go back up in that time, I will be p*ssed (and poor). Where's the EVIDENCE, Jim? |
