91 Falun Gong imprisoned for their faith this year so far

As of August 2021, another 91 Falun Gong practitioners were confirmed to have been sentenced for their faith, bringing the year-to-date confirmed cases of sentencing to 827.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

The 91 newly reported cases include 4 that took place in 2020, 8 in the first half of 2021, 39 in July 2021 and 40 in August 2021.

The 91 practitioners hailed from 16 provinces and municipalities. Jilin had the most cases at 25, followed by Liaoning (12), Heilongjiang (12), Shandong (10) and Hebei (9). The remaining 11 regions had cases between 1 and 4.
