Thousands upon thousands of Instagram users hashtag their EDC photos on a daily basis. Rather than consider the pros and cons of such activity, I would instead pose a couple of serious questions. What does it truly mean to carry every day? Or, what items are genuinely the most practical and valuable for the armed citizen when it comes to everyday carry? In the next several paragraphs we will address this in detail. The Fundamental Four For thirty years or so, I have been involved in teaching people how to employ firearms. My students have been active duty military, law enforcement, and armed citizens. As you might imagine, I have fielded innumerable questions regarding guns and gear. In order to address many of the frequently asked questions, several years ago I came up with a list that I dubbed “The Fundamental Four” of EDC. The Fundamental Four items that every armed citizen should have on their person before they walk out of the front door are; something Lethal, something Sharp, something Bright, and something Medical. "best block, no be there". but after that, a glock and a fox karambit. id say the fundamental five - a rock solid and well adjusted holster is crucial.

It medically melts wounds closed, it's brighter than a supernova, it's lethal without fail, and.... thermite cuts like a knife, yeah but it feels so right. SOL rescue howler whistle on keychain. Weighs nothing. Victorinox mini champ also on keychain. Pill fob with Benadryl, aspirin and BP meds. P-38 can opener in wallet, along with a flat swiss file and a Stanley flat 4 screwdriver tool. Butane lighter and book of paper safety matches. Comb I sometimes carry the following in a small nylon flat pouch hanging on 6 ft of paracord (doubled) around my neck. -button compass. -Ballpoint pen -Usually have some sort of multitool or SAK (farmer ribbed ALox or the Trekker) as well.
