(OP) Strawberry Girl User ID: 79665715 United States 09/02/2021 11:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I planted more corn and bush beans. Beets are growing. Spinach is sprouting. Having trouble getting my cabbage and lettuces started, for some reason. One cabbage did sprout, but a bird ate it. Other than that, they aren't germinating. Not sure if bad seeds or bad timing or black thumb. I'm new to this. Zone 7b if anyone has advice? Goodbye, halcyon days... There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened. |

If you are sprouting I hope you are using an gardening almanac . If trying to sprout above ground crops , always plant on the increasing moon . I buy cabbage plants but just have a small plot . I have a million seeds from last year as I let them all go to flower . I think I will throw some out and see what they do. They like to be wet . I just have small plot around my cottage . I like mustard/turnip greens better than spinach so I will put some seeds out . Cheers to gardening , one of the greatest gifts. |

Just water them as necessary, esp. through early fall heat waves. They need to reach a certain size before the first real cold snaps to be able to produce all winter. Premiere kale was my superstar last winter! And spinach, too. Always had fresh greens. |

Not many realize the benefit of the 450-460nm wavelength, or blue light. If you start your tomato plants, for example, under a 450nm blue light, your stalks will be thicker, stronger, and it will be a much heartier plant. =) Good girls go to heaven ~ Heathen women go wherever the fuck they want |

My father-in-law lives by the lunar calendar. He would call today August 25 or something, because he literally live from it. He also knows the changing seasons better than I do. When he says it's now spring. It's now spring. When it's fall, its fall. The lunar calendar is more dynamic and flexible, making it a more accurate measure of the seasons and weather than our 'modern' calendar. But our calendar is simple and easy to learn.
