It is 90 degrees with 77% humidity in New Olreans today

People in this area are very reliant on air conditioning
--it isn't just a "luxury" in many cases (like the elderly
and people with breathing problems like asthmatics or
someone with COVID)--it is LIFE SUPPORTING TECHNOLOGY for
100s--maybe 1,000s.

What that means almost immediately--probably within 3 or
4 days out--will be MEDICAL PROBLEMS for many people--and
many deaths.

After we saw what happened at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome during
HURRICANE KATRINAin 2005--and the horrendous effort that goes into
trying to "take care of" 1,000s of distressed people...it is
really surprising that there wasn't some kind of effort
to LIMIT rebuilding in the more flood-prone areas like
St. Bernard's Parish. They just see the land as MONEY-MAKING
PROPERTY and don't do any intelligent PLANNING...nobody
should have been resettled there after Katrina--period!

You need to understand the difference between New Orleans the city, and New Orleans the metro area. The city has 600k. The suburbs and surrounding rural areas are probably another 600k because if you search for the metro area population, it does indeed say 1.2 million people.
