Breaking news : All of New Orleans without power due the impacts of Hurricane Ida! Power could be out for weeks!

Thibodaux Regional Hospital lost power and the backup generators failed. The staff was having to bag breathe the people on ventilators. It's impossible to evacuate them at the moment. A lot of folks are probably going to die. Keep them in your prayers.

Do they have enough power to keep pumping water out from the areas BELOW the river level? (and to keep pumping sewage and water)

City Council guy interviewed on WWL TV said "Yes" with their own generators, but barely. (he said they need at least 60 megawatts of power)

Apparently NO has had real problems with it's generators, both getting them running and keeping them running, one of their big ones was off line for several years (if I recall what he said correctly) and they just finally got it back to being usable about 6-8 weeks ago. He seemed very very nervous about the city's ability to keep it's 4 big generators and several small generators up and running.

NO official explanation yet as to why power is out but some posts about it being because Cross River Transmission Lines fell into the river. If that is the case there will be NO QUICK FIX to New Orleans power problems.

As reported across various sources with a 7P event time:

"The partial loss of generator power Sunday at a Louisiana hospital in the path of Hurricane Ida sent doctors and nurses scrambling to keep patients breathing as they moved them to a different area.

Patients at Thibodaux Regional Health System in Lafourche Parish were bagged by hand, meaning hospital staff manually pushed air in and out of their lungs in place of mechanical ventilation, while they were transported to another floor, according to officials with the Louisiana Department of Health. Other generators in the hospital are still in working order, according to Dr. Joe Kanter, the state's chief health officer, as workers and patients there continue to ride out the storm.

Officials from Thibodaux Regional Health System posted on social media around 7 p.m. Sunday that "the backup generator that was affected earlier by winds from the hurricane is back online at the current time."

I survived two blackouts, the 1975 blackout of NYC, and the 2004 NYC blackout. During the last one I had Pneumonia, and decided to suffer through the night rather than call an ambulance. It was almost 100 degrees; I had to drape wet iced towels and stay neked. I went to a clinic the next day, waited 3 miserable hours, and was given an x ray to confirm and anbiotocs, I was better within 12 hours after takeing them. Some drugs are miracles.

Mmmm . . . . . should’ve been high priority evacuees granted the storm was a cat three. Plenty of stories of people expiring at hospitals in 2005.

I don't mean to be insensitive, but they've known for days this storm is comeing. Why aren't the hospitals evaculated? It's the same stupid thing they did during Katrina.
