I hope this is real. The CDC has no business telling landlords what they can do.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ended the CDC’s unconstitutional eviction moratorium that was set to expire October 3 in a challenge brought by landlords and real estate groups. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky acted independently and signed the order claiming no congressional authorization was needed.
(less than 50%)

If the court did indeed rule such, did she therefor have no authority to interfere in business contracts and parties to the contracts (the owners) were damage by her actions? I believe a court ruled a few years ago that TRUMP could be sued in civil court over business contract law. Why should she get a special privilege if he did not? I bet it would not be hard to find quite a few owners ready to sue and even as a class-action.

September does look like a ripe month for the beginning of the big sell off. The mandates will fail, but they could be the pin. Then you have the moratorium ending to boot.

Good ruling for everybody, tenants and landlords.

CDC and WHO just lost any ability to affect the sovereignty and independent governance of countries.

It's up to the politicians to make laws and provide rental relief if needed.

Which is the way it should be.

So if you're a tenant, start phone-hammering your congressman, and get all your friends to do the same. Its your elected representatives that are supposed to make these laws in the first place.

Make them do their job.
Embrace the cognitive dissonance.

Last time they said it WAS unconstitutional but they would not block it because:

--It was ending shortly anyway
--It was unlikely the CDC would do it again
--Blocking it would prevent distribution of relief funds to landlords

All complete bullshit. Unconstitutional is unconstitutional. Dont block a tyrant, the tyrant will continue to tyrant. Case in point.

Even though it shouldn't, this is going to cause a lot of problems in the housing market and with homelessness.

In all the stimulus that was passed, $45 billion was approved and funded to the States to dispersal to tenants for up to 12 months back rent and up to three months future rent. Only $5 billion has been dispersed. States are sitting on $40 billion they were given specifically for tenants.

Furthermore, a similar case with thrown out by SCOTUS a couple months ago and Biden decided to do it again anyway. Kavannaugh's concurrence on the last case said it's not a CDC authority and if something were to be done then Congress needed to act. Pelosi and Schumer did ZERO.

Someone in the other thread about said Trump singed and EO giving the CDC this power. I never knew that but, sure enough, he did! What a bunch of bullshit. People making nearly 100K per year were allowed to skate on the rent. So outrageous.
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.

Re: JUST IN: Supreme Court Strikes Down CDC’s Unconstitutional Eviction Moratorium
President Trump used an Executive Order to put a moratorium on all evictions and he renewed it at least once. Biden could do the same thing.

Todays ruling prevented the CDC(a bureaucratic agency of unelected government employees) from imposing an eviction suspension.

Congress should do this via legislation but executive could do it via decree.
 Quoting: gsonFIT

Damn, I didn't know that Trump did that! I thought it was the CDC, acting on it's own which I never understood because they don't any such authority to steal the use of anyone's property. Outrageous. Why in the hell you would want anyone to do something like this???

Last spring, Congress included in the CARES Act a temporary and limited halt to evictions for just over 12 million Americans. The original, narrow moratorium began on March 27 of last year and expired less than four months later.

But then something truly weird happened: President Donald Trump signed an executive order giving the CDC more power than Congress ever intended, greatly expanding the size and duration of the moratorium program. The public health agency now wielded much wider authority to stop evictions for all renters and homeowners, so long as they met rather broad criteria.

A stroke of Trump’s Sharpie granted sweeping new protections to roughly 40 million American renters — individuals making up to $99,000 a year, or a married couple making up to $198,000. Many of these upper earners never missed a paycheck during the pandemic, but apparently needed this unprecedented government help on top of the direct relief payments they received from the government.

If people didn't have to pay rent I don't understand why people had to pay their mortgages. But, people who think its actually normal to have people working 2 jobs and paying most of what they have towards somebody elses mortgage, shouldn't be so shocked that the people who think they own earth think you owe them your heart, lungs, kidneys, blood and all else so they can make money off a b.s vaccine.
