Actually, i haven't really tried c either, not directly.

He studies the bible a LOT.

He sleeps to the sound of bible scholar podcasts.

It appears that he wants to quit, he goes to 12 step meetings.

And he DOES quit for sometimes 6 or 8 months at a time.

But then he starts up again.

I have up and left so many times, sometimes with nothing but the clothes on our backs.

Stayed with friends or family a number of times, and finally came back after he seemed to clean up because i really wanted our family to stay together, and because he made good changes, and because i have hope.

But the changes never stick.

I guess i just have to let go of the fairy tale dream i was hoping for.

If both your names are not on the mortgage and he has no utilities in his name and no lease it's most likely a matter of trespassing.....

Even if both your names are on the mortgage either party can still force the sale of the home at any time with a court order.

If you're not willing to cut the ties though, and it sounds like you're not, all of this is a waste of time.

If you are willing to cut ties totally then you have to tell him to never contact you again and if he does you'll get a restraining order.

If you get a restraining order and he violates that he goes to jail.

But honestly, nobody wants to go down that road...

Court and lawyers are no fun and expensive.

He can challenge any legal action you try to take against him, including a restraining order which is going to be a LOT of stress on you.

It's best you just ignore him and eventually he'll move on or get himself thrown in jail or shot for beating on your door one night.

Either way, that's the easiest route.

At least then it's the D.A. paying the legal costs to keep him off your property.
