ATAS pays a starting salary of $17 an hour plus a bonus. Good, privately owned company. Good benefits. Must be vaccinated. One challenge would be transportation - how to get there and home. It is probably about a 20 to 30 minute drive one-way. I do not believe there is any public transportation options unless you are aware of a special needs transport service that would work. I can help arrange the initial interview and take him to it. I would want Noah vaccinated before I take him in my car or wait until the Delta variant risk diminishes and John wants him vaccinated before the interview. We don't know enough about these injections to know anything. He is going to talk to the employer about it and confirm if vaccination is a must. My dad and husband can go stuff themselves. I will make sure he gets transported too and from work. He is bright in some ways but very slow in others. He built a computer from scratch by himself with parts he bought on ebay but he still cannot tie shoelaces and we had to get him velcro. It is not a charity position, it is a real job, and he doesn't have the people skills to interview well. Personality wise he is more like a 10 year old but sweet and compliant. But I want to see him succeed so we are going to go for it sans vaccine. He is capable of doing a hands-on skills type job as long as customer service skills are not involved and his co-workers understand his lack of social skills. I KNOW I need to prepare him for the world because I will be gone someday. But it is hard to have a 21 year old son who has never been able to master the tying of shoelaces while he is simultaneously smart enough to understand what that means for himself. Write on this document that you are against it and write on this document that if anything adverse effects happen as a result, that you are asking your father and your husband to cover all the costs and care. Make it seem refined and add the law. you can find allot of these documents online now due to so many people trying to find ways to defend and protect themselves from employers. This is not that different in a way. He had such a unique take on life and it’s not hard to remember it is his life, I’m just there to help guide it, not control it as hard as that is. If he can understand videos and critical thinking in anyway, do it. Don’t be afraid to influence him because you are his partner in life. What he lost, you provide. Tell him how you feel about it if possible. Don’t let another vaccination cause more health issues for him. As a former CPS worker, my advice is to set him up with a therapist (if he doesn’t have one already) so that his opinion will count, especially if it goes to Court. If your son was approved for group supported employment, he is not ready for competitive employment, and will have gotten the shot for nothing. One thing I have noticed with quite a few of my male clients is that their personalities change after the jab. They get more aggressive and impulsive. FACT. If your son does not have a guardian he must choose on his own. Informed consent is difficult in these cases. Let him know he could get very sick and bad things could happen that are permanent. Show him videos of those who have Guillain-Barre or tremors. The visuals will help him to understand. Your ex is being stupid and setting him up for potential failure in more ways than one. Your son can always get some kind of job. He only has one life. Advocate for him and fight this. |

I, too, have a son named Noah who is 21 years old. He was also vaccine injured in 2002 from the MMR vaccine and suffered horrible seizures, had to be resuscitated twice, but eventually recovered.
