Re: Afghanistan: US Service Dogs Left In Cages At The Kabul Airport To Be Killed By Taliban
It is a brigade from the 82nd Airborne division.

There is some news about the quickly deteriorating situation the past few days but as you can imagine it's way worse than anything see on the news. Lots of beheading and executions are being conducted by taliban as they now gain control of most of Afghanistan.

I'm so angry with how this administration has handled this withdrawl of forces and so much of our military equipment is now in the hands of taliban.

Taliban had nothing to do with 9-11.

What a total waste and they will be back in power. No more Heroin either.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80736336

That is bullshit.

They provided safe haven to non-Afghan alQaeda in the 9-11 planning cell. Including the leader Osama Bin Laden.

The taliban were offered terms by the POTUS, and a deadline to turn them over. That was a chance to engage in modern statesmanship.
They chose…poorly.

Had Bush just gone and kicked ass and come home instead of trying to “ nation build’ history would be different right now.

Had Trump not been overthrown and inaugurated as the rightfully elected President, history also would turn out differently.

Many Afghanis will be slave labor for China’s One Belt projects, and the warlord militias will guard them. The taliban will rent the villagers out to Chinese overseers in exchange for China’s noninterference in terrorist planning, and heroin trade targeted at the West, to which Russia and China should have no objection ( revenge of the Opium Wars)

Any provincial authorities that resist…will be slaughtered.
Not since the Mongol invasions have Afghans been “occupied” by a power with no regard for human life and slaughtering it to achieve goals .

Thread: Kabul betting thread: How soon will Kabul fall to the Taliban? Post your date here!!

Thread started about 9 AM today.

Make your BETS as to when Kabul Afghanistan falls to the Taliban (not the airport, but the city itself)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77374864

It will be held off by our military until full exit but will come with a great cost of causalities which is why I'm so pissed at the handling of this whole thing. MY deepest concern is how exactly are we going to get the last boots on the ground out when they're completely surrounded and faced with relentless constant attacks from all sides.

We can argue that perhaps the initial war on Afghanistan should of been handled more diplomatically with the Taliban who was an ally to Al Qaeda. At the time the operation had strong support from the entire world community.

I don't like the fact we train our military to never give up and never surrender yet our leaders do exactly that. We have the capabilities to defeat any enemy but rules of engagement concerns of collateral damage ties the hands of our military capabilities. As far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as fair fight and rules in regards to how to seek and destroy an enemy combatants in a humane fashion is idiotic. I would imagine a significant portion of our casualities could've been avoided with more flexible rules of engagement for our military. When you're fighting an enemy that beheads innocent non combatants and is willing to strap a bomb themselves we need to fight differently.

America should never wage a war ever again that it doesn't intended to completely eradicate its enemy. If its not worth risking the life and well being of its entire civilization to defeat then its probably not worth fighting for to begin with right.

A total disaster for the US and the neocons who created this mess when they launched their strategic play in Afghanistan in the early 2000's.

The Taliban has just taken over a dozen provincial city capitals as well as two large capitals and about to take over Kabul.

In the meantime, Russia (with China's support) has taken the lead in cleaning up this mess and has tightened its grip on central Asia as a result. Uzbekistan has already come back into Russia's fold because they're scared as hell of the Taliban spread. And there are more central Asian regions to come that will happily return to Russia.

Nice going Biden!

Say "Goodby" to the tens of thousands of Afghans who worked for the US Military, their families too.

The Taliban are going to "eliminate" such western thinking people from their midst ... and do it QUICKLY.

The US REFUSED to issue Visas so those people who helped us could get out of the country, and the people in Washington KNEW when they were doing and that that they WERE WRITING DEATH SENTENCES for each and every one of those people and their families when they did that.

A LOT of people in DC are going to have a LOT of Blood on their hands because of their INTENTIONALLY SENTENCING TO DEATH so many Afghans.

Let that be a lesson to people in any other country who are inclined to help the US in the future.

Thousands of troops heading to Afghanistan to help with US embassy departures

The U.S. troops will begin shipping out in the next 24 to 48 hours.

By Conor Finnegan and Luis Martinez / August 12, 2021, 2:34 PM

-

In a briefing at the Pentagon, the Defense Department's top spokesman announced that it's sending 3,000 troops from three infantry battalions -- two Marine and one Army -- to Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport to help out with the removal of American personnel from the U.S. embassy.

The U.S. Embassy dominates the skyline in the city of Kabul, Afghanistan, July 3, 2021.
They'll be there "temporarily" and will begin shipping out in the next 24 to 48 hours. These numbers are on top of the 650 already in Kabul protecting the airport and the embassy.

An additional 1,000 personnel will be sent to assist with the processing of Afghans who worked as interpreters, guides and other contractors and applied for Special Immigrant Visas.

Furthermore, a brigade of 3,000 to 3,500 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne will be sent to Kuwait to preposition in case they are needed further...

So...

650 already there
addition 1000 to process visas
3000-3500 more

That's 4650-5150

According to official sources. Uh, did the number being withdrawn start at 5000?

It's the British pushing the US not to leave, just as it was the British who pushed the US into going, the day after 9/11.

September 12, 2001

Despite the restrictions on air travel following the previous day’s attacks, one private plane is allowed to fly from Britain to the United States. On it are Sir Richard Dearlove, the head of the British secret intelligence service (MI6), and Eliza Manningham-Buller, the deputy chief of Britain’s domestic intelligence service, MI5. In his 2007 book At the Center of the Storm, CIA Director George Tenet will admit, “I still don’t know how they got flight clearance into the country.” Manningham-Buller and Dearlove dine for an hour-and-a-half with a group of American intelligence officials at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. [Tenet, 2007, pp. 173-174; BBC, 12/4/2007] In addition to Tenet, the US officials at the dinner include James Pavitt and his deputy from the CIA’s Directorate for Operations; A. B. “Buzzy” Krongard, the CIA’s executive director; Cofer Black, the director of the CIA’s Counterterrorist Center; Tyler Drumheller, the chief of the CIA’s European Division; the chief of the CIA’s Near East Division; and Thomas Pickard, the acting director of the FBI. Also part of the British delegation is David Manning, Prime Minister Tony Blair’s foreign policy adviser, who was already in the US before 9/11. [Salon, 7/2/2007] The British offer condolences and their full support. The Americans say they are already certain that al-Qaeda was behind the 9/11 attacks, having recognized names on passenger lists of the hijacked flights. They also say they believe the attacks are not yet over. [Tenet, 2007, pp. 174; BBC, 12/4/2007] According to Drumheller, Manning says, “I hope we can all agree that we should concentrate on Afghanistan and not be tempted to launch any attacks on Iraq.” Tenet replies: “Absolutely, we all agree on that. Some might want to link the issues, but none of us wants to go that route.” [Newsweek, 10/30/2006; Salon, 7/2/200

I firmly believe the British were involved in the 9/11 attacks.
