Fun Fact:
the bizarre "pledge" was invented by an American Nazi Francis Bellamy, and it originally involved a Hitler salute to the flag (although Hitler copied the salute from the pledge)
the Hitler Salute was removed from the pledge only after the USA had decided to support Britain instead of Nazi-Germany in the WWII, in 1943
