FTM, aka First of the Month with Walmart where benefits roll in. August is always the hardest hit #1 shopping FTM month of the year at Walmart due to back to school. Then factor in possible rumors of shutdowns and this is what is happening.

I can't post pics, yet a lot of empty spaces from pasta to canned goods to candy to TP. When I topping off, others were doing the same as me a week before the FTM hit. I tend to avoid stores from 1st-7th because it looks like the locusts hit and wipe everything out.

They will keep better than uncooked, just make sure they are packed air tight.

But 50 ??

Dried beans and rice (research)....

Rice and beans are both incomplete, plant-based proteins that, when eaten together, form a complete protein. Eating rice and beans in combination can provide you with a good amount of complete protein, fiber, carbohydrates and other nutrients.

Not to mention the very noticeable price increases across the board. I did our weekly shopping today - Aldi and WM. My wife has been doing it the past couple of months, but I went today. I was shocked…everything, EVERYTHING, was at least 10 - 20% more expensive than just two months ago. I know what I pay for the common staples, and my total today was through the roof. I shop smart, wisely, and generally go for whole foods and base ingredients.
 Quoting: Larphillips

Yeah it's bad

Was checking on clothes for the kids, a $10 set of new boys pajamas are now $15

Used clothes on Ebay not much better. Used to be able to find women's used levis for 12 or 14 bucks, now they run almost twice that. I know much of the increase is for fees and shipping, but damn.
 Quoting: StellaBlue

I work for a big box retailer that sells home items amongst other things. We are doing moves all through our store to make aisles wider and take off fixtures from the floor. Also putting HUGE boxes in walls to fake out space. Nothing is two deep, its all face fronted.

I would stock up if needed on bedding. Sheets, comforters, blankets, pillows. We have not received any reshipments since April and are being told we are not getting anymore this year in textiles and bedding,.
Most of the stuff we have left is ugly designs, patterns and colors nobody wants. Its not available to order online either....

Also our Walmart and Fry's food stores look the same problem with bread here as well

Where are they?

I was quite surprised to go unto a Walmart in an upper middle class area and find massive holes in stocked items that I haven't seen since the beginning of this pandemic.

I just didn't think we were there yet. Not to mention w
Walmart's ridiculous staffing problems. I just don't understand why we are not hearing more about this as if the media is considering this the new normal or somehow the American people deserve to live less than now as punishment for not unfulfilling hëir bidens dictates by July 4.

I'm pretty sure they're just clearing their seasonal aisle, in order to put the Halloween candy out.

Some of that is likely that they are short on stockers. With school starting up, I'm sure a lot of their high school help recently quit. They are going to have to start going after retirees and offering them decent pay.

How serious has the weather mod drought been? Here's how serious:

99 percent of the bread wheat crop was in drought stricken areas and has predominantly failed.

97 percent of the Durum wheat crop (used for pasta) was in drought stricken areas, and has predominantly failed.

80 percent
of the retail alfalfa crop (for feeding cows,) was in a drought stricken area and has predominantly failed. However, the dairy areas are outside of the drought zone and virtually all of those farmers grow their own alfalfa, they just won't be able to buy supplemental alfalfa.

Significant losses of approximately 75 percent of barley and oats.

A lot of corn is grown OUTSIDE the drought stricken areas but enough is grown in drought stricken areas for it to matter.

When will we seriously know in the markets? Right around September, after the harvest should have come in and been distributed.

How bad are the losses overall? Data is sketchy but I am guessing between 40 and 60 percent crop failure. Since Obama destroyed the strategic grain reserve, there might not be enough food to go around.

WORSE: Canada is a MAJOR producer of grains, and Canada had the same problem with weather mod. Both Canada and the U.S. are facing all time record low harvests. And it gets worse from there:

Even the prime grain regions of Russia were hit with weather mod, see this jet stream chart:
[imgur] [link to imgur.com (secure)]
and though their crop failures were not as bad as the U.S. and Canada, they were still bad. I don't have the stats on Russia, they have been hush hush. China was the dumping ground for most of the water, and they had so much that too much water triggered crop failures.

Now here is what reminded me to do this report:

I received a mail from a reader that I have confirmed is legit. As it turns out, 7 years ago calves were born with a 7 on their heads. This is the only time that has happened, it is not a normal occurrence. I checked all other numbers and for 7's outside this time frame and it does not happen. All calves with 7's were born on the same year in the same spring.

The warning goes that 7 years after these calves are born, there will be a huge famine. Now, I cannot specifically state that's going to happen, but 7 years does indeed come up for the harvest of 2021 which is clearly failing.

[imgur] [link to imgur.com (secure)]

IF, when I had fact checked this there were calves with 7 from other years, or calves EVER with any other numbers, I'd have called bunk. But as it turns out, this is a unique phenomenon and it is worth reporting. The reason why the warning lands on September of this year is because of how the J_wish calendar lines up and progresses forward against the Julian calendar. September is the month things ought to go to hell if there's anything to this, and I think there might be, despite my hesitance for posting what is usually "superstitious crap". The conditions to support this coming true are TOTALLY in place, in abundance.

1. Obama destroyed the strategic grain reserve.

2. Historic crop failures due to a drought at a level never seen in the U.S.

3. Historic crop failures due to a drought at a level never seen in Canada.

4. Historic crop failures due to a drought at a level never seen in Russia

5. Historic crop failures due to excessive rains at a level never seen in China

All happening when:

6. They are running a corona scam and restricting activity as much as possible

7. Doing all they can to force people into a poison jab

8. Doing all they can to destroy economies

9. SQUATTER BIDEN PROMISED A "DARK WINTER" THAT DID NOT HAPPEN LAST YEAR.

How does all that add up? Well, for now I'd say buying several cases of pasta would be a VERY GOOD IDEA.

Local Walmart has the same issues. They blame it on two things.

#1. In most cases, they have the food in the back, but not enough workers to get it out on the shelves.

#2. SOme suppliers are running low on stock and cant fulfill orders - which is also likely due to the fact that they cant get workers to make the products.

This is just what I was told at my local walmart, coincidentally...today.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80376300

Walmart doesn't keep shit in the back. Anything back there has arrived in the last few hours or is waiting to ship out or is seasonal stuff waiting for a change over in the next day or so.

What you see on the shelves is pretty much what you got.

Do we know what exactly is the cause of all of these shortages?
 Quoting: NotStarvingActress

They will give you a million different reasons, some even totally contradictory. Most people latch onto the one that they can most accept and tune out the rest. No one is taking any action to resolve this. No one is seriously investigating why. And it continues to worsen by the day.

The fog of all of this has to be intentional. The purpose is to confuse and distract. Whatever the answer, it’s clear that we’re not meant to know.

People need to quit being so damn picky.

You eat to live, not live to eat.

Adjust your eating habits to what is available and stock up accordingly.

You can live a long time on beans, rice and fish. 2 billion Chinese can't be wrong

You might loose some of those fat pounds while you're at it

Well, that’s not what this is about now is it?

This thread is about something being WRONG…something is afoot…we’re looking for signs and aggregating data to try and ascertain what’s coming next.

This isn’t a debate on meagre survival or Communist China…this is about the American way of life, the land of abundance and plent, literally disappearing before our eyes and becoming your beloved Communist China.

And no…this isn’t an invitation for you to America bash…this country earned its abundance and we worked damn hard to get here.

Something is seriously, massively, existentially wrong.

I make a WWI throwback economy quilt out of the leftover fabric when I sew. Basically it's a scrappy down comforter with fabric pieces instead of feathers. Ugly, but warm as hell. I noticed the bedding problem starting last year, and you're seeing it with clothing as well.

I haven't seen any problems other then the usual under stock. Son who works in WM said people are panic buying again, but not quite so bad this time.

Re: FOOD SHORTAGES. Are they starting to appear in you AO? PICS!
Not exactly on topic here, but relevant none the less. The wife stops by a feed store yesterday to pick up some bird seed. The store is a small, locally owned operation. The gal running the place said bird seed prices were going through the roof and it was becoming more difficult to get.

The wife asks why, and gets a Whimpey "COVID" excuse, but on further prompting it got a little deeper. The store owner reported that numerous growers in our area (NW Oregon) had been approached by governmental agencies offering $3,500 per acre to destroy their crops. (corn, wheat, etc.) Most growers declined their "generous" offer, but apparently several others were hard up for cash and caved for the deal.

I suspect that these offers are being peddled all 'round the country to growers who have not yet lost crops to drought or fires. Bastards!

The real capper about the whole thing though, is that my wife called her sister in AR to disccus the matter on the way home, and the calls were dropped (cut off?) three times during the conversation when it came to the government's offer to buy and destroy food crops.

Please try to persuade me that this whole deal isn't a planned demolition of this country by using food as a weapon. My advise to each of you dear readers, is to enjoy each and every day, today, because every one that follows is going to get a little bit worse. I.E., less freedom, more controlled. Carpe Diem!
The best is yet to come - but not during this administration.

Yes, tons of help wanted signs here and not just for fast food. High school kids go back in 2 weeks and most of the college help is headed back to campus. Lots of service and retail jobs. My 20 year old is applying at Ace Hardware but Home Depot and Lowes need people too. Some of the banks are hiring tellers.

I can't even fathom all those people who are sitting around and refusing to work when there are millions of help wanted signs out there. Eventually they will be kicked out of their "rent free" apartments. I hope the parents don't allow them all to move in with them. Some of these people need a little lesson of the pitfalls of laziness and liberal leanings. Make them actually fend for themselves.
